Ever been stood up by someone?

They did it twice! Someone setting a meeting with us then they wouldn't show up and here I am thinking they are professionals and they value their words! I am super busy with work that I canceled some of my appointments just to meet with these attorneys needing me and my colleagues as witness for the case they are handling. We traveled an hour and a half literally just to meet them only to be told later on that it was reset or canceled. I had it all ready I won't be tricked for the 3rd time! Ever experienced like this? It's really making me angry! Its very unbecoming for a professional!

I got stood up by an engineer from my phone and internet company. They'd come round the week before to put our phone in and knocked the internet box cutting it all off. We went a week without the internet becuase they couldn't get back to us any sooner. I stayed in all day because they said they would be here between 9am and 4pm. At 4:30pm I phoned up to see what was going on and they said the engineer had made notes that he had turned up but no one answered. so basically, he couldn't be bothered and made up an excuse. I had a go at them saying that I had been in all day and if they didn't get anyone out the next day I was going to disconnect everything, throw it in the street and not pay them anything ever. They has someone out the next day first thing in the morning lol

My goodness I hate that situation my friend. I am one person who hates waiting. I have no patience waiting and how much more if the persons I am waiting did not show up. I would really hate them if they stood me up. I'm glad that has not happened to me yet. Time is precious and I would not want it wasted just like that.

If the service people had to take a cut in their fee they would not be so ready to stand one up. If I was to give up a days wage to see that the service guy was taken care of and he/she did not show I would be tempted to send them bill for the lost wage. manley

Yup, time is precious. It is never my habit to be late. I always come ten minutes before the arrange time so as to prepare myself that's why I am very pissed off with them. We sacrificed discussions for almost a thousand students then they stood us up. Such pickle minded people!

#5 years in the justice field and this I feel is a ploy of the defense attorney to get the witness to become discouraged, like you say, and not show so hie/her case will be Nollie and his/her client gets away with whatever crime they committed. I was on the bench for two years and I fined three attorneys for this same action.

No not an attorney. and the post should have read 35 years, not #5 years. Police Officer for 30 years, then Judge for two. Now retired and earning from the internet. manley

Yea. My work requires me to meet clients and being stood up is quite common. I try not to take it to heart but it's indeed a BIG waste of my time. As for those attorneys, I think they are simply too unprofessional. Once is OK but 2 times is unreasonable.

Hi, anneshirley. Yes, I have been stood up by the Registered Dietican Nurse a few times. She would have appointments with her clients on a certain day and when it is time for me to go to my appointment. I would find out that she is not even present on that day. It is like I rushed for nothing. Everyone who had appointments with her was stood up too. This was very unprofessional as well. This woman has done this a few times too often. Someone needs to follow up with her clients in telling them that she is not going to be present on the day of her appointments. I am sorry that you have experienced the same issue. People should be more loyal to others when being a no show.

It happens to me a lot, specially when there's something wrong in the house and I call a service guy to do the repairs. I would love to have it scheduled on a weekend, but then the service guy will say "I'm fully booked this coming weekend". So I've got no choice but to have him come over on a weekday...which means I have to take time off from work and be home before he arrives...Then he calls and says, "I'll come down your place tomorrow"...Then he will hear a mouthful from me, and I go dial a new service guy.

My dear girl, that is inexcusable and very banal! I think you give them far too much creedence calling them professionals! Common courtesy would dictate that they inform you of the cancellation!Under "NO" circumstances would I facilitate them again....if they wish your testimony, they can NOW send some-one to your office/home! NO compromises! If they need your input, they can NOW absorb the cost in obtaining it! They have shown total disregard for you, think of the money they will be making....and the money it is costing you! Cheers!

Hi anneshirley. It happen to me a few times. But when someone does this with me I make the new appointment just in the better time for me. Isn't my fault if they don't respect my time so the next time I set the horary. Have a nice day.

I've never been stood up like that, but I hate when I try to make plans with someone and they cancel last minute!

Where i live you get stood up more often than you care to count. With shortages of fuel, food and just about everything else, respecting other people's time seems to be very low on the priority list. In fact when you call to enquire some are even shocked that you do not seem to understand the economic situation and how things change all the time.. Hmmmmm, wonder what will happen to all these people when things normalise and good customer service and business relations count for something once more.
