We all know the Obama girls were promised a puppy if their dad won the Presidential election and some here have gotten sick of hearing about the selection of their new pet. Well, it seems there was another promise of a puppy made which didn't grab as many headlines.

Vice President-Elect Joe Biden was also promised a puppy after the election by his wife, Jill and they've chosen a German Shepherd puppy that will be delivered to the V.P. residence after the Inauguration and will be named by Biden's granddaughters.

Interesting. I've always loved dogs. So, I can undersatnd the excitement by both parties, both Obama and Biden despite my politic views not lining up with theirs or even liking them at times. (I didn't like McCain at times, either.) However, Obama is not stupid. He knows America is a country of dog lovers. He also knows people question how "American" he is. So, this quest for the perfect pooch will go on for awhile...

I doubt that Obama's daughters care one bit about what the rest of America thinks about their quest for the perfect pooch! They were promised a puppy and I'll bet they're going to insist on getting one once they're settled into the White House.

I know, it was a stunt for publicity pulled off by their father.

News is news. The media has to make their money somehow. Some people want to hear even the most seemingly simple things about those in the public eye.

A German Shepherd, now that's my kind of dog. My daughter-in-law has a Shih-tzu female and she wanted her to have puppies. So she had the dog bred and she had 5 puppies. One didn't survive, she kept one and gave one to her son, one to another son of mine, and one to my son's mother-in-law. When our family gets together we have six dogs in the house, a black lab and another Heinz mut. That's a little TOO MUCH to say the least. When they all start yapping at each other and running wild, it's almost bedlam. We went to my grand daughters' for Thanksgiving and she warned them all NO DOGS and I couldn't believe how peaceful it was.
I grew up with an English Setter and he was the favorite bird hunting dog in town. Duke lived to be about 14 years old and one day he just wandered off and never came back home. We don't know what happened to him, I was 12 years old at the time.

Awww.....Good for Biden. That's a great pick for a puppy. Finally we have laid back couples in the White House.
