I signed up to join the Stop Global Warming Virtual March and I encourage you to add your voice as well. Global warming is the most urgent issue of our time and since we are all contributors to global warming pollution we must all be part of the solution. Joining the Virtual March is a first step to joining the movement to demand solutions now. You can join by visiting: http://www.stopglobalwarming.org/countmein.asp StopGlobalWarming.org's mission is to use the strength of numbers to urge our government to address global warming, and urge businesses to start a new industrial revolution of clean energy that reduces our dependence on oil and helps stop global warming. Together we can make a difference.

I do not understand how anyone can say that it is not caused by us. I know that the earth does go through periods of warm and cold, on it's own, but never to this extent and never this rapidly. There is so much real proof, too. And... if we are wrong, we are still poisoning the earth, killing off species, not just animals, but plants, sea life, etc., that would take billions of years to do. Tell me that all the wolves and buffalo, who have been around so long, just disappeared on there own in just a couple of hundred years. Tell me that complete forests and jungles, just went away on their own. Tell me that complete mountains that are being torn down, yes, literally torn down, for coal mining, are doing that on their own and that all the rivers are polluted all on their own. If you tell me that and can prove it, I will back down. Speaking of mountains (in Virginia, in particular), my sister was at a seminar this week where Robert Kennedy, Jr. spoke of this horror and how it must be stopped. Please read this... http://blog.yert.com/2008/03/19/west-virginia-mountain-momma/

I would like to help you nanajanet but I am trying to help people see that they have been lied to about global warming. Global warming does exist but it is a natural phenomenon that has been going on probably since the beginning of time. And it is not a threat to mankind or the environment. Many people don't know this because they are constantly bombarded by lies from the global warming alarmists and don't take the time to weigh the facts or don't have the time because of their busy lifestyles. I am not an expert on climate change; I suppose I'm not really an expert on anything. I'm just an average person who thought that many of the popular claims about global warming didn't make sense. So, I decided to do some research of my own. And I discovered that many of the claims by the alarmists, however believable some of them sounded, began to fall apart when compared with studies and experiments conducted by actual climate scientists and experts in related fields. But, as I said, I'm no expert, so I'm not asking anyone to take my word for it. All I suggest is that they objectively look at the research done by these climate scientists and compare it to the claims made by the alarmists to see if those claims still hold water. Here are some websites and a book that I've read that I encourage you to take a look at, just to see if the alarmists claims still make sense. If you decide that the claims still make sense, then I wish you luck in your efforts. The Politically Incorrect Guide To Global Warming And Environmentalism, by Christopher C. Horner http://www.co2science.org/ http://www.worldclimatereport.com/ http://pmcms.smartgreenusa.com/ Happy Mylotting!

As much as you can find some articles that say it is a hoax, there is more information out there that proves it is not. There is a small amount of natural global warming and cooling that has happened throughout the history of the earth, but not until modern man and the industrial revolution, has it become off balance. Before, nature took care of itself and did not strip and punish the earth as we have for the past 200 years. I have searched in both camps, true or not true, for articles and information, and the information supporting that we have caused it to go beyond the norm is astounding. Let me ask you this. Even if it were NOT true, wouldn't you rather error on the side of caution? I find that many who are trying to prove that it is not true, not all mind you, seem to be a bit lazy and not want to be bothered, so are looking to convince the rest of us so that they can go about their damaging ways. If all of those naysayers can prove to me that they still care about the earth, are doing all that they can, and still believe it is not true, then fine, but just as it took a long time to convince the "scholars" and the rest of the world that it was NOT flat, I am sure there are people out there hiding their head in the sand so they do not have to deal with it. Here is just one of thousands of articles that I have found about global warming and our contributions... http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/article516033.ece

That fact is it has been consistently cooler and not warmer. We're more likely to be entering an ice age. http://www.ourcivilisation.com/aginatur/moregw.htm As one of the people said in the articles: Paranoia is not truth. I'll admit I fell for the global warming hysteria for a nanosecond, then commonsense made me question it.

I appreciate your comment, nanajanet. One thing that really stood out to me in that article is the reference to the Kyoto Treaty and the hopes that Bush would sign it. There is no need for Bush to sign it; Clinton already did. And his signature didn't make it a done deal. He had to send it to the Congress for their ratification; they didn't ratify it. Also, the Kyoto Treaty was created by the countries of the European Union. It's purpose is to get industrialized nations to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions; primarily CO2. Since the creation of the Kyoto Treaty, the EU's GHG emissions have increased not decreased. And, countries such as India, China, one of the Koreas(don't remember which one), and Mexico - 4 countries that are in the top ten of the world's countries that produce the most greenhouse gasses - are not even targeted by the Kyoto treaty. That sounds a little disingenuous to me. Again, I appreciate your comment. And good luck to you.
