Maybe I am not sophisticated enough or maybe I am not well traveled or I haven’t been groomed to appreciate exotic food but I am having trouble swallowing (no pun intended lol) the concept of eating raw meat. I am talking sushi (or sashimi),which I am told(raw fish) is raw fish and steak that is rare. Now I thought the reason we invented fire and cooking techniques was to move away from this very thing .I thought that food was supposed to be cooked to give it flavor an appeal ,which were desired qualities and not to mention destroy germs. In all fairness I am told rare steak is actually put on a grill but not cooked thoroughly. The aim of rare steak lovers is to see the blood running from the steak as it is cut .If I wanted to be adventurous and try new cuisine ,I might attempt the steak but I can never see myself trying sushi. What I am interested in knowing is how people get so excited when talking about sushi and I have seen some really sophisticated people almost getting a high about raw fish ? Also are they any sauces that they put on it to make it easier to go down ?.In general ,I want a sushi lover to convince me that sushi or raw fish is the way to go CONVINCE YOU SUSHI LOVERS PLEASE CAUSE I AM JUST NOT GETTING IT

I don't like sushi, though my partner adores it. She loves all seafood, though, conversely to me. I guess it makes sense. A "rare" steak depends on where you ask for it. The British will still cook it. The French will cook it much, much less - they basically show it the flame, then take it away again! I don't know for the USA - never been there. I've tried steak tartare once - that's raw steak. It was weird, but not unpleasant. I wouldn't try it again. Unfortunately, in my case, the mayonnaise was dodgy and I spent the next two days throwing up...

Raw meat can give you parasites like worms. But I eat sushi. I don't know, I just love it. I don't like rarely done steak though.. I feel like it's harder to chew than raw fish. Weird. I can't give you an explanation. Sorry. XD

Not all sushi has raw fish in it. I like the kind that has just vegetables in it. I'm not about to eat any raw meat or fish. My granddaughter works at a grocery store that makes sushi and it is very good. But like I said not all sushi has raw fish in it.

Actually I like rare steak, I never did and wouldnt even try it until my husband asked me to try just a small bite, I was pleasantly surprised really. I now eat mine the same way and so do most of our kids. I have had sushi too, and there is some that I like and others that I dont. I didnt realize it but there are different kinds that totally taste different. There is only one kind that I have liked to date however I dont know which one it is. LOL However my husband loves them all, with those thou I say he can keep them.

I was brought up on well cooked chicken and roasts. No raw meat! Now I love fish but raw? I can see a gag coming. I wonder about the sauces too. I would be curious to try it but as far as liking it that remains to be seen.

At first, I thought like eww, sushi is raw and it stinks, but the later I realized that it is very yummy. Well, you might wonder that raw meat is bad for your health, but actually these sushi fish are quite well cleaned and are kept in cold places or sometimes even smoked so the viruses won't remain there. Sushi aren't just raw fish, they are delicious. That is why they are eaten.

I would never eat raw seafood. I know the parasites that fish carry. I also know there have been cases of hepatitis from eating raw clams and oysters. I also cannot eat my steak rare. Parasites and bacteria just do not appeal to me. I'm not willing to take the risk. It might be a good thing that you don't get it!

I am with you, I honestly do not get it either, it is very weird that people would it eat. I would be so afraid of getting sick from it. I watched a reality show one time that two sisters ate sushi and were throwing up for the rest of the day, because they got so ill from it. Plus, it does not even sound good, because I do not even like fish very much anyway.

I have had my appendix out and that is what used to help digest raw meat in cave man days.sushi no attraction to me,people normally like sushi are the types that don't get time to cook anything and they probably get high as neat protien hitting your digestive track must give you a bit of a buss. Not for me I like my meat cooked and my fish cooked properly thankyou. As for eating blue steak you can forget that, blood dripping out of my dinner like I say cave man and I don't fancy being dragged back to the cave by my hair either,Whats wrong with some people?

I'm a sushi lover, but i can't convince you as i'm not the type of sushi lover you mean. I don't eat raw sushi. I only take the fully cooked sushi and set meals in japanese restaurant. There are many types of sushi, it does not mean sushi related only to raw fish. I have tried few times the raw fish sushi before pregnancy, actually it has no taste at all, i don't like it. I prefer other type of sushi. It's really yummy!! For those not fully cooked steaks, i surely cannot accept that. It's disgusting for me to see the blood running out from the steak when i cut it. I think it's better to eat fully cooked meat and it's healthier. Have a nice day.
