changing e-mail address

When I changed my e-mail address I was asked to set up preferences all over again, does anyone know how to get the old info back?

what type of information do you need????i did change my e-mail id recently ,i made one for mylot exclusively.

First of all you have to specify if you are talking about an online email account or not. Is it a web based email account such as gmail or hotmail? I don't think that you can recover your preferences you have just to set them up again.
