My dad does NOT have cancer!! Yippee!! He called his doctor and left a message in turn the doctor called him back and told him he doesn't have cancer!! He has some other type of disease that is often mistaken as cancer but I don't know what it is because he couldn't pronouce it for me but it has something to do with his bones. It's not fatal but it does cause deteriation of his bones. Does anyone have a clue to what this disease is called? I have no idea. I'm going to ask mom when I see her later on today. But isn't that cool?! He doesn't have cancer!! YIPPEEEE!! To turn this into a discussion, have you ever had a health scare?

thats good news if your dad does not have dreaded disease such as cancer. i guess better ask the doctor about the specific of the disease and later you can search on the internet other details of it. you can also seek a second opinion just to make sure that your dad if cancer free. this is better idea atleast you will feel comforted that he is absolutely no signs of active cancer cells. yes i do have health scare because i dont want myself to be in bed and sick. i felt that being sick is like being helpless. you cant do anything. you are stocked at the four corners of the room and at the same time it is expensive to get sick.

Thanks!! I think the name of it is osteomylitis and will find out some time tomorrow to be sure. He's had lung cancer a few years ago and was able to beat it and we all thought it came back but it hasn't. He has such wonderful doctors who are keeping tabs on his progress. I agree, getting sick isn't easy. Having been there and done that so many times myself, I know the feeling. I've had several surgeries which have laid me up for weeks and weeks at a time and I thought I'd go batty seeing the same walls over and over again but we do get well eventually as long as it's not something that's fatal.

Well actually, it is myself that has really great health and I am very thankful for that..but my husband suffers terrible back pain from some injuries he had on the job and my daughter suffers from horrible migraines..Like she woke up yesterday morning in one of her extreme ones and I went back and stayed with her until she fell asleep again..Then of course we are getting attacked badly in our finances, barely keeping ahead of the bills..So regardless of another's life looks like, sometimes people have problems that are not seen, but are just as bad..That is life and what I try to tell my family, even though the neighbors have no lack in money, the women has a disease that causes her a lot of pain.. This is why we should look at what we have and not at what we don't have, because no one has a perfect life, even if it looks like they do..

Hi MsTickle!! The doctors did some blood work and found that he may have it again but it turned out to be a false alarm. Scared us silly I can tell you that!! Whew!! It turned out to be a disease of the bones but it won't kill him. He is 76 years old and I know he can't live forever but gosh, I want him for as long as I can!

HEy man. thats a good news. im happy for him. About the health scare i have one. Im having this headache recently and i cant seems to find out the problem that trigger it. It happens suddenly and takes time to stop. I went to some medical check but they said it's just minor sickness that trigger the pain. But even so when it start reacting...the pain is like screwing your skull. If anyone know please tell me how i should do to prevent this.

Thank you!! As for you, watch what you eat because it could be something that you're alergic to. Watch what you do such as go outside or if you're around a certain thing and maybe then you could pin point where these headaches are coming from. You may have an alergy to something now even though you may not have had it before. Alergies can develop at any point in our lives. Then again, it could be a migrain. Those are the worst headaches ever! I've had a few of them and ended up in the emergency room over them a couple of times. They're no fun! Migrains can come from alergies too so pay close attention to what you do so maybe you can figure out what's causing them. I wish you the best of luck!!

Hi friend, Well there is no better Christmas present than that, is there. Thank God he doesn't have the big C. That is something no one wants. Anything else you can certainly deal with as it comes. He could have Fibromyalgia, which I have and that makes the bones brittle. They will put him on meds for that. I am sooooo happy for you and your family. Have a very merry Christmas!! I am sure you will now. Love Cheryl

No there isn't a better Christmas present than that! The last one that was scarey like that was in 1990 when my fiance was killed Nov 11th and then in December dad had a major heart attack and had to have a 5 way bypass operation and he came home ON Christmas day!! None of us kids asked for a thing, we just wanted our daddy home and he made it!! Responder above you may have gotten the answer which is osteomylitis. It's not fatal but it does create problems with the bones. Hope you have a very Merry Christmas too!!

Yay for not having cancer. However whatever the disease is or whatever is going on does not sound very good at all. I have not had a health scare in that sort of multitude. Well not in that sort of way. I have with injuries and things though.

Thanks!! Since we live close to each other now, I'm trying all I can to make some wonderful memories for us but this year has been a really hard one because mom had a brain stem stroke in April and she hasn't been right since but tonight she was doing so much better! We helped her put up some Christmas decorations tonight which really helped cheer her and dad up! I love to see them both smile!

I once had a health scare when I picked up a mushroom.. That was when I was 8 years of age and thought all mushrooms could kill on touch. I washed my hands for 2 straight hours and kept saying to myself "Your not gonnna die...". The scary thing was that we lived on a 3 floor apartment and somehow a mushroom had landed on the balcony... Space mushroom???

I was told I had an ovarian cyst. I knew someone who had nothing but trouble with ovarian cysts, so I was worried. Turned out fine, but it was scary.

Oh gosh ElicBxn... I do know a lot about ovarian cysts too for I've had 8 of them and they are so very painful!! Especially at that time of the month!! I used to lay on the couch and just moan and groan and cry, it would be so painful but there was nothing doctors could do at the time because nothing showed up on the sonograms until this one time it all of the sudden grew and caused the worst pain I ever had. From then on out, they kept growing back and was advised to have a hysterectomy but I wanted children so I kept trying treatments after treatments and still the darn cysts would return. Finally after 20 or so years of hell, I relented and had the hysterectomy and I've not regreted it because I gave it all I had and then some so it wasn't meant to be for me to have children. God has other plans for me but for the life of me, I'm 44 years old now, I wonder what His plan is!! LOL

Whoa! That's so ironic! I just watched a medical show recently where a woman was told she had leukemia (bone cancer), then went to see someone with even more experience in this and was told the exact same thing as your dad! It wasn't cancer, it was that other thing that closely resembled cancer, but wasn't! So, I know what you're talking about; I just can't remember what it's called, either. I just asked my husband because he watched that show, too. He said he remembered it but can't remember the name of this disease, either. Anyway, I'm so very happy that you've received such great news, cats! That's awesome!!! I'm sure that a tremendous weight has been lifted off your shoulders. What a GREAT Christmas present, huh? Oh, in answer to your question, yep, I had a health scare. It involved cancer, too. I had a 'lump'... you know the kind... the doctors decided to "watch" it for a month to see if it grew. I was so scared for that month! Afterwards, they did a biopsy and it turned out to be non-cancerous. Whew! I know what you and your father are feeling right now... believe me!!!

I think it's called osteomylitis but I'm not sure on that though. I forgot to ask him tonight when we were up there. Yes! It is one heck of a GREAT Christmas present!! and a huge relief!! I bet you DO know what we're feeling!! Having gone through the scare yourself, sheesh!! I'm glad that it wasn't!! We might not have met!! About the tv show, yeah that IS ironic!! How cool!!
