I heard on BBC radio news that a teacher has beaten a student to death for not doing his maths homework. This saddens me a lot. It goes against the purpose of education. And killing a student for not doing his homework is really gross. I really hope that the teacher gets what he deserves. HAPPY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR. © ronaldinu 2008

First of all, I laughed when you posted Happy Christmas and Happy New Year because it was an awkward place to say that. With that said! I am glad teachers here in the states aren't allowed to lay a finger on students. That just sickens me that they believe it's okay to abuse your students. I think this teacher needs to be put away for years upon years. I wonder how they will serve him.

In the Philippines, we do not allow teachers to beat the students because it is against the law. and it is a shame that that Egyptian teacher beat his student just because of an undone homework. Maybe he doesn't know his ethics as a teacher.. Woe him!

That is so sad. I can't believe anyone would kill someone for not doing their homework.

That doing should not be tolerated at all. If I am the parent of the child I will do everything to put that teacher in jail. That teacher does not have a right to punish the child. This is really saddening and makes me angry as well. I mean what is wrong with that teacher? It's like he/she is having a bad time with his/her own life. Well, I hope this person goes to jail and rot in it.

That is a really horrible thing! I hope he stands trial for murder. Murder is mureder , no matter the reason. I do not believe in corporal punishment in the schools. I believe it keeps children from learning . there have to be better ways that beating!

Uh oh! That's too bad about the teacher. I'm surprised that they even happened. Do you have the link to where we can hear the BBC radio? I would like to hear it. Do they know what punishment the teacher will get or what the student's parents are doing? Have a MERRY CHRISTMAS :) Pablo

It's very sad to hear a news like this children should be given freedom and according to their will we should act because small small things pains the children a lot so we should carefully treat the children. Even the management of the school should be careful in selecting the students and there should be a strict rules such that no child is handeled improperly

This a terrible thing and hope that the teacher will sure gets what he deserves. I hope that it will never never happen again , because it is really a disgrace. Students have to be respected from the teachers as they do respect their teacher.

Oh my goodness! That's terrible! The teacher better get what he deserves. Sometimes, a student forgets to do his/her homework, which is perfectly natural. I'm a straight A student, and I, once in a while, completely forget to do an assignment. Education is supposed to be inspired by the teachers, but by the looks of it, it was being forced down the student's throat. MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAVE A HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

That teacher deserves to be in jail. The school is like a second home to our kids because they spend most of their day in school. The teachers are the ones taking care of them for much of the day. So teachers should treat their students like their own kids and care for them. There are a lot of ways to discipline kids but without hurting them.

this person is not a teacher, he is a murderer and deserves the sentence for murderers in his country.

This is disgusting. I looked it up and it happened back in october. I cannot believe a teacher can be so cruel and heartless. And Mr Abdelhamid was remanded in custody on manslaughter charges. I pray he is left in jail to rott.

I came from an underdeveloped country and I heard this a lot when I was young the students didn't die, but they were punished by hitting their fingers with a plastic ruler. in my school it was mostly word abuse, not physical. I even had a racist teacher, they said she was some kind of royalty descent that was betrayed by her husband and so she kept lashing out to any students that are not native, wear short skirt or even wear a hair bandanna (well she couldn't wear any of those since she has way short and thin hair plus she is too skinny if she wears short skirt you would think she is a living needle, and yes she is a native) I got beaten by a male teacher once too. I was heading out to the washroom while nobody was allowed to leave the class. Also, my english teacher always dressed and walked like a model. they said she was once a hotel receptionist. oh wow, well that isn't half modelling at all. dream didn't come true, I suppose! I always got good marks in english class because I took an English course outside. She knew this and somehow was mad, punishing me not to be in her class a few times. then she gave me a task to translate a novel and I did. hahahah well well well some teachers don't deserve graduation from teaching schools, do they? Even worse my physics teacher always complained her pay was low and if I wrote down exactly what she said in class, she said I shouldn't (should I write my own words then? what is she there for? teaching or whining?) See I don't let anyone shuffle their own version of truth and obedience inside my head, not especially a racist who couldn't even keep a husband, some kind of male thinking all girls are crazy of him although he isn't even attractive (yikes!) also some model wannabe walking around like peacock or someone who can't live within budget while being paid the same rate as everyone else I still graduated with good marks, not missing a single year I don't know really how these teachers graduate from teaching schools and get the job while there are good decent teachers out there can't and yes I am sure all these people will get what they deserve teachers who can't give good example are not worth followed or listened to there should be a distinct law for teachers because they are out there teaching people of all age. what if they teach them wrong, and minors follow them?

When I read these stories I wonder if these persons who are in the Teaching Profession forget what was being taught to them upon graduating. I did one year at Teacher's College and we did psychology of learning/children. This teach us how to react towards children. I was unable to finish my course because of sickness but I always remember some of things that I can decipher in my fuzzle brain. These teacher's made it look as if they are in a war zone in the classroom. It is sad but those compassionate teachers are no longer in the classrooms. Those who are entering is not because of the love of children but it is because there is no job in their chosen field so they just filing a space in the classroom. Or it can be that they didn't have the money to do their chosen field so they turn to the cheapest professional which is teaching. This is a sad case and if I was like the authorities he/she will have to go behind bars for a long time. While behind bars those who cannot read and write he will have to teach. Season greetings to you as well my friend.
