It has been my desire for very long to learn baking. I want to buy a new oven now. But I would like to have a microwave oven combined with this. Can some one share your experiences with the purchase of this oven-a microwave + baking oven?

Hi kala, by this time you must have become an expert in using your microwave oven right? I happened to come across this discussion just now. I too have a convection type of microwave which can be used for baking and grilling etc; I find it very useful and bake cakes and stuff often. It has now become a must have gadget in most kitchens since it is very fast and convenient to use ...

Yes Kiran. Now I am quite adept at using the microwave oven and I have also baked a few items in it.Sned me some recipes for biscuits kiran through mail[what you have tried and succeeded--one thing that I know for sure is that baking is hundred percent dependedent on the proportion and accuracy in weight of ingredients for it not to be a fiasco.

I would suggest you to buy a all in one microwave oven which includes grill, convection, microwave atc. You can cook, bake and grill all in one. I have been using a LG convection-grill 30litre since 5 years. Compared to all other brands I have seen at my relatives and at my own home (It is IFB there)LG is the best. If you wish to buy a cooking range, I have bneen using national which is quite old but in excellent condition. If you see some other brand do not forget to see the ratings people gave for this particular product in their website.

If you ask my opinion, I would not recommend microwave oven for cooking purpose. I used to do quite a lot of cooking in micro oven, but after reading the harmful effects of the rays on food items due to cooking, I stopped using. I only use it to heat the food stuff which can be done in a jiffy. Cakes and other baking I do in OTG.
