Christmas is just three days away are you all ready for the big event?

I will tell you I am ready for the event as much as one can be ahead of time.
I have my first batch of company here who will leave this afternoon and then the second batch will arrive tomorrow and stay until the 29th.
Christmas Eve I will be having around 30 people over for a sit down dinner. I have almost all the food bought or planned out for people to bring. I have most of the gifts bought and wrapped. I need to get something for my hubby because we got invited to a graduation for a niece I forgot about and needed a gift. So we gave her my gift for my hubby. I got my hubby a gift card for Work World. Work World for those of you who do not know sells all kinds of working clothes. Our niece graduated from a Nursing program. We gave her my husband's $50 gift card. I usually do not give that much but for the last minute thing because I forgot about the graduation. We decided to give it to her. Now I do not have a gift for my hubby!!!!!!!!!
I also have gift cards for nieces and nephews which I put on boxes of Candy and did not buy enough boxes of candy. When I went to get more the store did not have any more. I got the Hershey Pot of Gold candy for $4 dollars and the price tag was marked 8.95. Now I have to go and get something small to tape the gift card to.
I also have to get the Christmas Dishes out and wash all of them. They are in the garage all wrapped up in zippered dish bags, but they need to be taken out and washed. I can do that ahead of time I think I will do that today. I also should wipe out the refrigerator because we will have a lot of people getting in it of it and I do not want people to see it dirty. I will say it is not real bad but most of you woman out there know how it is.
I am getting a headache to think of all the things I still have to do and so little time. The problem is the cooking cannot be done ahead of time. The turkey and ham has to be cooked that day. That reminds me I need to get the turkey out of the freezer.
On top of that on the 29th I have a funeral to go to and just found out that I am one of the ladies that has to supply the food. I will have plenty of left overs I will have to gather up and take to the funeral. I will not be going to the funeral because that day I have a doctor's appointment and have rescheduled twice and I do not dare reschedule again because it is for my thyroid and if I do not go in I may not get my meds renewed. The funeral is a two hour drive out of town.
So my original question are you all ready for the main event? What all do you have left to do?

I have one gift to wrap still and one to buy. Everything is wrapped and ready. Now Christmas dinner is another subject! LOL! Im not to stressed out about it thou as it will all come together. We have 5 adults, 4 teens and 7 babies (ages 2 and under) to prepare for! Like I said it will all pull together thou.
Christmas eve we have our best friends coming over with their children so that we can exchamge gifts and just hang for a bit, maybe watch a movie, whatever.
I do still have to dust off my wall to wall book shelf thou but other then that we are pretty set to go. I used to stress so much over this stuff. I dont no more as I would like to enjoy it too!

Maybe you should talk to him. I know that it isnt fun to have ti handle everything yourself and that us why I dont do it anymore. Of course I love to see everyone happy and enjoying the food and gifts but not at my expense totally. I want to be happy and awake too!
Good luck and Merry Christmas!

The problem I have is all the work of cooking. I am disabled and have dizzy spells and when I spend to much time on my feet the dizzy spells get worse. I am only doing this for my hubby and so far he has not helped out at all.
I sure home he will get in gear and help! I may have a melt down if he does not help. The house is clean it is all the cooking that needs to be done and not much can be done ahead of time.

I'm really not ready for Christmas. I'm still waiting for some gifts I ordered online over 2 weeks ago
and I have tons of cooking and baking I plan on starting on tonight and I have to make a few gifts and also go out shopping later on this afternoon to buy 5 more gifts and pick up a few more stocking suffers. I have been putting off finishing my Christmas shopping at the last moment, not because I don't want to do it, but because it's been bitterly cold lately and I've had this massive sinus pain and pressure this past week in my face and head and when I get out with sinus problems and mix it with the cold air I usually get a sinus infection. Sometimes the pressure gets so bad I can't even focus on what I'm typing on here at mylot because my visions is so blurred due to my sinus pressure. ew. I need to wipe out the refrigerator also, reading your post reminded me of that also* writes it down on my holiday to do list*..LOL.. Were having Christmas dinner on Christmas eve then on Christmas we are going to have a Christmas brunch after we open gifts then later on in the evening me and my family are going to my dad's for Christmas dinner ( which this year he is doing something different, he's making homemade chili for dinner ) and we will exchange gifts at his house as well.. Just typing about all of this holiday to do list is making me exhausted..LOL .. Oh yeah, and I have to wrap more presents!

Cassandra I sure home you got it all done because it is not December 25th at 9pm and I am exhausted just reading what you had left to do. I did not get everything I wanted to do done but I got all the necessary things done. The dinner went without a hitch and we had a great time. I ate too much as usual.
Merry Christmas

even if im not really excited about it..i have to prepare for the traditional christmas dinner...atleast ths is the only thing nice about christmas..you get to be together with the family...the gift giving is just another thing..but its true meaning of christmas has been tainted by commercialism....and now..the bad economy is the major reason for a not too jolly yuletide season...so going back to the question..im not prepared..im really affected by the news that says that too many people are starving or have been laid off etc....reality bites!

I know that really bites. If my hubby lost his job we would lose our home. He seems to be secure in his job but you never know what the future holds. We are upside down in our mortgage, which means if you do not know we owe more than the house is worth. Now I know many American's are in the same boat.
I am hoping that with the economy like it is, this brings back real Christian Values, and brings out the goodness in all of us, to help our fellow man, to give products that are home made and to go back to whole some values.
I did can this summer and a lot of people are getting canned goodies for gifts.

I hope you can stay warm and safe though the holiday. I know it has been cold here but not like some parts of the county.
I will tell you the truth I am not looking forward to having my husband's family here for Christmas. He does not help me with the cooking or the cleaning. He said he would help me on Sunday before his Sister got here and guess what he found other things he needed to do. I was so upset. I guess I should not have been surprised he does this to me all the time and we have been married for 31 years. He does not like to do anything around the house. He will move the things in the garage so I cannot find anything, he will do the little stuff like help me with the table cloths, but when it comes to the big cleaning woo he seems to have errands to run or other more important things to do.
Oh well enough of my gripping. Have a happy holidays.

Yes I am ready for christmas, I didn't think I would be, what with covering another coworkers shifts, and the ice storm we just went through, plus we lost power for 4 days, and I had to buy my Christmas dinner, plus buy food to replace the food I lost in the fridge, I'm glad I had not already bought christmas dinner.

Where are irishmist? I hope the ice storm is over for a while. We did get a cold snap here in CA and have been having one storm after another. We need the rain so badly that I do not mind it and as long as it is raining we do not have the fog. I hope you do not lose electricity any more this winter. Merry Christmas

You know every year I tell myself "I'm going to be ready for Christmas before the last minute" and it never fails I am always shopping at the last minute!! LOL, At least I will only have to spend a day doing it instead of grabbing the last few things off the shelf because everyone has beat me to the good stuff. I am praying that I won't have to squeeze my way down cramped isles to get that lego toy for my son who has not let me forget all year long which one he is wanting. All I have to get really is wrapping equipment and some stocking stuffers. I'll be ready I know I will be before Christmas gets here....

I have faith you will get there. We went out to Target last night at 9pm and the parking lot was full but the store seemed to be empty for the amount of cars. There was no lines, not a lot of people in the toy isle. I do not know where all the people where.
We did not even had to stand in line to check out. The snack bar was almost empty but the bad part was someone working in the snack bar was making popcorn. You know how good fresh popcorn smells, well they had burnt it, so you know how bad burnt popcorn smelled.
It was raining that was the only draw back to the trip.

Yes, I guess I'm ready to catch up with the Great Escape once again! This is on every Christmas! Well, actually, I have become bored with it now! I am a telly addict though and I guess I love the Christmas films that come on. I guess Christmas is an excellent time for families and children although I guess I'm an independent and I don't have much in the way of family. I guess I have found acceptance with this though. Everyone is rushing to the shops now to pick up final items for the big day. As we are in this credit crunch I suppose it's a very good time to grab some deals! I will also be taking in the January sales. Happy Christmas by the way. Andrew

Hello Andrew nice to meet you.
You are the fist person I have met besides my hubby that says they love the Christmas movies. He will watch them over and over again, even the ones he watched a few days ago. He loves them I have to confess I do to.
I did a few last minute shopping today now I have to wrap them before my son and his girlfriend come tomorrow.
Have a great Holiday season.

It sounds like you have a very busy week ahead of you. I do not envy all you have to deal with. As for me, aside from working, I have gifts to wrap, grocery shopping to do, and meals to cook. I do not plan on doing any more shopping, but it is hard to tell what will come up in the next couple of days. I will probably spend the majority of my evening wrapping gifts while the kids are watching a movie, or after they go to bed. I will do my grocery shopping tomorrow, after I am finished working, and I will cook meals on Christmas Day and New Year's Day. I do not think we are having any company, but it is hard to tell what my husband will decide last minute. He is good at doing that to me!!

I wish you a Merry Christmas. I did go out and buy some last minute groceries. I also washed the Christmas Dishes today and they are out on the dinning room table. I have a few gifts to wrap but only a few. I do have to see mom at the nursing home and take her her gifts. She will not like the gifts I give her I do not know why I do try.
My son and his girlfriend are coming tomorrow and staying until the 29 so I have to have the bed ready for them. I had company leave today so I need to make the bed tomorrow morning before my son gets here. The work nights and will be coming tomorrow morning after working all night. They will need to sleep some tomorrow so I need to have the bed ready for them.
Have a wonderful time with your kids.

...anyways thanx for your wishes...he is 6 and 1 days today !!!
