I love to see things re-purposed rather than thrown away. However I am not very creative and really have to work to think of ways to repurpose items. My most recent repurposing is a cake stand. The stand was taking up too much room in my kitchen cabinet and I seldom used it. I decided it would make a lovely centerpiece and I topped it with 3 large candles and some pinecones/greenery! Clever idea you have there! Sounds really cute and a good way to get extra mileage out of something that usually just sits around doing nothing most of the time. Sure, I repurpose all of the time. For instance, this Christmas my little grandson is into trains, and I have the dining room table set up as a train table. (The table fits 12 people and there's not that many in my family any more, it just sits there collecting dust lol) I get this one tea that comes in a balsa wood box with a slide lid. With some paint and a little imagination, they are now houses for his 'village.'
Once when I was walking in the woods, I found a bunch of stuff my Dad threw out many, many years ago when we still had the farm a dairy. There in the dirt was this big metal scoop that he made to give the cows the servings of their grain. I snatched it out of the dirt, cleaned it, painted it with that faux stone paint, and turned it into a hanging candle sconce. All us older relatives remember Mom feeding the cattle with it, so it's a nice memory.
I repurposed all of my deceased (male) relatives ties. I took all the red ones, green ones, and white ones, and made a memory Christmas tree skirt out of them. Really cool with the pointed edges (wide end of the ties.) Cost nothing to do. I took a broken singer sewing machine cabinet and made a table out of it. The only good part was the legs, and the top was trashed. One of the neighbors made a special trip over and said 'I know you can find something to create out of this.' (Yes, lol, I DO have my rep for being an oddball artist hahaha) I made the table top out of wood that came from this shelving that was in an indented archway in the living room of the house I lived in at the time. I opened the archway up to the kitchen to improve circulation. The wood from the shelves was beautiful and I couldn't bear to toss them out. I like to find new and unusual ways of re-doing all kinds of things, it's lots of fun :-)

Oh my I wish I had your artistic talents! I absolutely would love to be able to paint things as you did with the metal scoop. The idea with the ties is fantastic. *wishes she hadn't given her Dad's ties to Goodwill* Keep up the good work...keep those landfills lean!!

I am not sure if this would really be repurposing, but my fiance and I gave an old container that I brought with me when I moved in with his parent's, to his best friend. He uses it to store his games, wherein I had it to store clothes.

I love to repurpose leftovers. I know that's not the same thing, but I have to try to get creative with leftover food because my husband says he gets bored with the same food over and over so I think of ways to maybe chop up meat and add a sauce and put it over rice or noodles etc.
I have also taken a stand that was made to sit in the cabinet and sort dishes, and put it on its side in the desk drawer to hold up file folders. (I hate hanging files)

I wish I share your enthusiasm but I don't think I do much re-purposed as much as I would like to. Maybe someday I'll be able to do so.

That sounds lovely for a holiday table. I have a plant stand, three plants tall, wrought iron. I used to have round boards on each ring and put plants on it. I have also put pots directly in the rings. Right now it is painted cream colored, and I have mixing bowl sets in each of the three empty layers. I do not think I am explaining very well, though.

I re-purpose plastic bowls to hole beads and other craft things they stack and keep the little items from being lost.
