Bargain Dresses - Great buys at $1.49
United States

Today at our local Goodwill Store all children's clothing was $1.49! I had been in the store a few times last week and spotted 3 dresses that were absolutely adorable. They were priced at $2.99, a bargain for the price. One was purple velvet, one a green corduroy, and the last was red corduroy. The frugal side of me told me to wait. I was glad I followed my gut instinct and waited. Of course I had to look at the boys clothing too. I found 3 items.I found gray sweater from LL Bean and looks as if it were never worn, a long-sleeved sweatshirt with Jimmy Neutron on it, and a hooded sweatshirt. The prices on these were also $2.99 each. But, I got them for $1.49 too! While on my cell phone with my daughter she told me she needed an answering machine. I found a digital machine for $2.79. A Sesame Street toy and toy Hummer were both marked $2.79. Great buys. The Hummer is great. It plays "Can't Touch This" and moves to the music. It also rolls on its own, honks, and makes a sound like the engine is revving. Can't wait to see my 3-year old grandson when he opens it. The Sesame Street toy has the alphabet on it and says each letter when the letter is pressed. Great toy for my 2-year old granddaughter!

You did find some great bargains today. I have not been to our Goodwill Store in a while, I need to go again soon. My oldest daughter has 4 children and she shops there a lot.

I was just at our local Goodwill about 2 weeks ago and all the children's items were 1.89!! I got a gorgeous winter coat for my 2 year old granddaughter for 1.89!! It seriously doesn't look as though it has ever been worn. It is navy blue with white fake fur around the hood and on each of the 4 front pockets is a precious pink bow and some embroidery. I got her several dresses as well. Don't you just love a good bargain?!

They had a sale on all winter coats this weekend. They sold for $1.99! Of course there wasn't anything for my size. Never is! I would have liked to have gotten a coat for my mother that was her size. It was wool and very nice.

That is wonderful. I donate to the Goodwill about once per year. We have one fairly close to where we live. I have shopped there a couple of time also when looking for a real bargain at the last minute also.

I love going to our local Goodwill store. I got started going there a few years ago when my oldest son (who is a welder) started going through blue jeans like they were water! LOL The fire from the welding burns them up in no time so I started getting jeans for him there for $1.99 a pair. While I was there I started looking a little and found some great bargains. Especially in kids clothes. This past summer a friend of mines daughter was getting married and the girls foudn their bridesaid dresses there for just a few dollars. I was impressed and so now I am hooked! LOL Looks like you made a good haul!

I would have liked to have been with you. I an a great ditherer in similar stores. I visit them when I go to the u.k. My youngest son is there and he pays for me to go every other year. My two sisters are there and we all get together. But I go into similar shops and just dither while my sisters are rolling their eyes and then they can't take it any longer so push me into a cubicle and tell me to get undressed so that I can try on things. They then do a search without me hampering them. You did fantastically well. You should be so proud of yourself - the bargains you got were great. Christmas Blessings

last summer, i went to goodwill and got some clothing for my daughter for a dollar each. i recently went to my favourite thrift store and got a silver trophy for $2.00 - the thing is there is a sticker on the bottom that says $95.00. i will have to take it to our antique dealer friends and get it checked out.

You really got some good bargains at the good will store. I actually was there on the Tuesday Christmas, and they were giving away free coats. I got two coats, since adults were allowed two coats and you could get three for each child. I hope to get back soon, when I have some money to see if I can pick up some things for myself. I need so much, shoes, sweaters etc.

The goodwill stores are very good for sharing things you will not use any more, so others can take at low prices. I came across such stores and bought some books one dollar each, pretty good in shape. Here in China, we see more and more such stores for similar purposes. Some people also get coupons regularly to buy food or other daily used things at designated stores. Charity concept is being accepted and executed in recent years, gradually spreading to a wider scope. Volunteers are helping old people who live by themselves. Progress is seen, but with much difficultis. For a big city like Shanghai, the old will take a substantial portion of the population. there have been study projects and trials on multiple approaches to deal with the challenging issue.
