I want to move badly but...

Normally I am not a person that likes to move, when I am situated in a place I want to stay there, but I don't want to stay here. the place is more expensive then I can afford, and at first I thought I would be able to find something cheaper but after 3 months of looking that is next to impossible. But I still want to move, the house is too cold for me. the landlord is a dog, one of the heaters is not working at all and one is working badly, this is the north and it is cold. I want to get out of here hopefully before the winter is over, but I am too sick to move, I ache all over and I can't walk in the winter, I can hardly move, then I would need buss far which is 5.00 a pop everytime I go see a place and I am not the only one looking for a place so that means it does not have to be rented to me, even if I like it. I am really in bind, and it is not easy moving in the cold in the winter in the snow. I might have to freeze and get more sick here until after the winter is over but I hope that I don't have to do that. anybody else ever had to do something because they were in a bind and yet extenuating circumstances made it difficult to do it? for best response please explain what was the situation and what was stopping you from fixing it.

i would see if you could get your landlord into trouble for the heating issues!! i know every time we have moved the last couple of times it KILLED me and i would do the first half and end up crashing and thank goodness i had help to help me get the rest done but i have had to stick it out in some bad situations before.. a year ago in my new house my ac literally burnt out on july 4th.. i was by luck getting some money coming in but not for almost a month and i needed a couple of thousand dollars for a new ac since this one was unfixable.. well.. we went 15 days in the horrible heat.. outside was over 100 degrees EVERY DAY of those 15 days and inside the house was 5 to 10 degrees hotter than that.. it was horrible because i was worried about my pets health and got sick from the heat but ya have to do what you have to do the money came in early and i ran and got an ac but i will never forget that time.. i also was stuck in a lease one time in a slummy apartment that i had rented that pretty much self destructed as soon as i moved in.. the siding on the side of the townhouse fell off and the rain was leaking and molding into my neighbors side.. my kitchen sink fell through the counter into the floor.. carpet was disenigrating.. we found a huge mold problem etc.. it was bad.. i cant even remember what else but we were there an year.. i kept on the associations that were over rentals in my state to get them to fix things and they would slowly get around to it but we went the whole year with out siding on one side!! i harrassed the rental place.. i made signs to put in the window saying "do not rent from ____" and "Slumlords" and got with my neighbors to try to get together and get the conditions better.. we couldnt afford to leave because of the lease and we were working 60 hour weeks so even if we could move there was no way i would be able to be up to it.. living in bad conditions is the worst thing ever because usually they have you stuck because of either money or time/ability to move and it seems as if they enjoy it too!! we thought about transferring to another place they had to avoid the lease breakage fees but then they showed us a house with a huge hole in the wall for something (dryer hose or something) and well we didnt have a dryer so there would be nothing to cover the hole and they looked at us like we had lost our minds for caring!

I am sorry to hear about your search for a new place. Have you tried Craig's list? that's how my sister found our new place. All you have to do is pick the part of town you want and the price you can afford and see what pops up. There is also apartments.com.Good Luck. Take Care.

We get heating assistance since my husband doesn't work in the winter months exept for a day here and there where he can find a odd job. We only get so much money for kerosene on assistance. So what we do is have no heat when it is 32 and up it to say for when it is really cold and we need it. We can only sign up twice a year for the heating assistance so we have to stretch what they gave us for more months then it is supposed to. I have been bundled up sitting at this keyboard with gloves on two or three shirts/sweatshirts and sweat pants shoes and a jacket with a throw and a comforter wrapped around me to keep warm so I can make what little I can off the few sites I do. But it is still cold and on nights it is really cold the one kerosene heater doesn't do a good outstanding job I wish could. You have to close to it to feel it's warmth. I hope and pray that you will get the you need and can afford. I have lived in many places in my life since my mom moved around so much you'd think sh had gypsy blood in her..lol Made me hate moving..My mom is in the middle of moving right now. and should be finished by the weekends end. But I am glad it will be nice enough weather for her to do that. Well what is stopping me from fixing the problem..well I can't get a job well a normal job in a office that pays I don't have enough skills. What would also fix it is put the money in a account that doesn't let anyone take any money out till December and then maybe we would have a little extra for stuff we needed for the winter.

Sorry to sound as htough I was whining but I wasn't we have to do what we can to survive and deal with it. I am considered severely obese and no job skills so no one would hire me. I am just lucky we have been having a milder winter so far then normal even tonight we don't have any heat but it isn't so bad when it is in the higher 30's. Sometimes I will light every candle I have and put them in a circle in my computer room and close the door it can be atleast 10-15 degrees warmer using them. but I can't burn them long or everyday..all those scents mixed together smells like a perfume shop..lol

that is horrible to live like that hon, and I can't live like that because I get very ill with the cold, I toughed it out long enough in cold these last years and if I am ever going to feel good I have to have a warm place.

We had rented a house with no loft in the kitchen wind blew like razy thru it and the bathroom no heater what so ever. I hang blankets to the door that went in both and tried to keep one room warm. It had no stove so I cooked on a hot plate and a kerosen stove camping one. DIdnt have to worry about food going bad for the in the kitchen it froze. The reason we rented it was it was the only place we could find close to hubbts work every thing else had been rented out. and in this town at night we were only residents in day time me the store keeper and mail mistress.

here you have to have your own furniture and that includes fridges and stoves, but I wouldn't have liked that place either but here you cannot have a house with no heat not when the temperature can go as low and 20 below zero

the heat is working in the kitchen, living room and barely but still working in my bedroom, it is the hall that is not working and that is not major but it is just that for many reasons I just have to get out of this place, it is making me sick, it is so damp and I really don't like it anymore.

Hi winterose, I don't drive so if only we have a choice, I love to move in an area where is accessible from public bus but I am also thinking hubby and I love to garden plus it helps us save some money for food shopping! ANyway, our place is a great place for people who drives! It is very peaceful and very ideal for family or retired people!

I would love to move also. I know my home would not sell quickly though and we would have to figure out where we would move to also. There is no peace and quiet where we live. We love our home though and do not want to move but would love to be able to enjoy it here. I still owe quite a bit of money on my home also and cannot just walk away from it. I hope you find a new place sooner or later. I hope things change here, but we will more than likely move sooner or later too.

You really are in a bind my friend, what with the computer and now wanting to move. I have been in many difficult situations but none to do with housing really. If you decide to stay where you are until after winter then is it possible to concenrate the heat in one room or area so that you are not too cold? I hate to think of anyone being cold. do you have family that could look at the places first for you? They should know your price range and the accessibility to ahops etc. Pt maybe friends would look for you too. I am sorry not to be able to help you with good suggestions. Christmas Blessings

no my family wouldn't do it, and in the end I still have to go I have to sign the lease, no one can do that for me, no in this kind of weather you cannot have one room with heat, it can get to be up to 20 below zero all the house has to be heated. but so far okay but I have to get out of here, I will not stay another year in this place I just hate it.
