I am a 4th nursing student here in the Philippines. I just choose the nursing course because of its demand abroad, like in Europe and America. By taking nursing, it will be easy for me to have a job abroad and help my family in our financial crisis.. And the nursing course will just be my stepping stone for stability and after that, I will choose what I really want. To be a teacher.. I don't really like nursing, I hate every idea of it. Come to think that I really hate hospitals, the ambiance, the smell, the sight, the aura of the people there, everything is negative!!!!! What I really want to be is a teacher, but not in the medical field like clinical instructors. The question is, how did I survive? How did I make it up and now I am already graduating? My question is, will I be successful as nurse if it is just my stepping stone? Answer me. Pls

If you graduate and get a job then you will be hating yourself and your job. But you could be making lots of money which could mitigate the distaste that you have for your profession. You could learn to love nursing and think of how you are helping people, this could be something good for you. Cheers!!

If you want to become succesful as nurse I think it is important to find the good things about nursing. You say that you don't really like nursing, but try to focus on the good the sides. Nursing is a stepping-stone for you, but your education as a nurse can be useful in other ways, too. As a nurse you work with people, you can learn a lot from that and you can get a lot of experience which will be useful for you, if you want to work as a teacher later on.

Funny, isn't it, that you have gone all throughout the course of nursing and you don't even like it. I would say that you can be a successful nurse someday, if only you will love every bit of it. it would make your profession easy and not live in a burden just because you don't like your job. you may say that now that you will be a nurse in order for it to be stepping stone for the profession you like, that is to be a teacher. but as you grow up, my friend, you will eventually face greater and more broader challenges in life and when you are on that state, you will forget on what you want, but you will now focus on how to live, because when you grow older, bigger responsibility lies on you. you will not think of yourself anymore because other people will definitely depend on you, now, that you have a job. well, im saying this on a future basis. but as i have experienced, i can say, change is part of our lives no matter what. i can't say also that being a nurse will make you successful. we never know really what the future holds. your priorities might change when you already have a job and as you grow old, more responsibilities will be given to you, from work, families, friends, decision, plans, etc.

Nursing is a profession that is not only job but a humanitarian action also, helping those needy peoples. As you you don't like the job, it may reflect in actions when you will start the job. You have said that it is a stepping stone and after further studies you will switch over to your choice job. If you he the goal set and apply best efforts, you will succeed in your pursuance. Bu the fact is that whatever time period it is that you have to do your hated job, has to be performed whole heartedly until you have stepped to next level.

I guess you can make it manueru, imagine of studying that course for four years? Isn't it a success already? Knowing that you hate everything in the hospital. Ask of yourself how did you make it, from then maybe that help yourself to motivate for another ladder of being more successful. Good luck!

I was a Human Resources before and I deal with job seekers who are graduates from different fields and many of them are Nursing graduates - fresh graduates and RNs...Like you, some took it as their stepping stone to work abroad. Success lies on your hands not because you love as a nurse or not. You can be successful if you want to. Take your dream as a motivation and you can make it. It isn't a question of whether you would be successful as a Nurse. The proper question would be is if you would be happy working as a Nurse?...

manueru22, the course you have taken is one of the most important cog in the medical field. The doctor might do the surgery, but it is nurse who is always near the bed of the patient and takes care of him so that he/she gets well early. For this you must have patience and love.Start loving your course, you are helping the patients to stay alive, this is next to godliness. Think of all the blessings you will get from your old and infirm patients, there will be nobody to take care of them, their children would have left them and gone away, it is the nurses who really take care of them as they would take care of their own parents. The sick and infirm need your help, I know it is difficult, at times you have to clean their sores, and if needed their faeces, has to be cleaned, I know it is very difficult for a young girl to do this, but you will be doing a great social service to all the patients. THINK OF ALL THESE POINTS,YOU WILL BE SUCCESFUL IN YOUR LIFE.

I think reason behind our sucess is always internal desire to achieve something. If you hate being nurse i dont think so you can go far in this field. You are already graduating so i think so you must be in panic situation to get job.According to your condition i think so you are in need of money. My advise to you is try to find other source of income like internet job where you can earn descetly without spending too much time.Once you have enuf money and time in hand it will be better for you to change field. And eho told you demand for nurses in more in europe and america.Lady now a days its very much difficult to migrate for job there as job losses are mounting there. Better way is start earning online and start traininf for your fevorite field.

Try to find a job as a nurse, after a period, think about it carefully, decide what you should do, I think that will be better. To be honest, my major in my college is English translation, but now, my job is concerned about the computer, the whole year, I suffering about it, because I must learn everthing from zero. My dear friend, think about it carefully, after that make your choose, to be a nurse or a teacher.Good luck!
