Rolling back the fertility clock.Research shows a medical link between stress and infertility. One study says 33 percent of women are infertile by age 40 .Doctors say the best hope for older women is donor eggs. Would you want or need to know the donor? http://www.cnn.com/2008/HEALTH/12/23/babies.older.mothers/index.html

My sister-in-law had a healthy baby at the age of 42. I suppose if I wanted to have more kids at this point in my life (which I can't imagine) I wouldn't seek "outside" help at all (I'm a do-it-yourself kinda gal! lol!).. BUT if I did.. I would want to know the donor... because I'm nosy like that!

My grandmother and mother in law both were in their forties when they gave birth to children. It was their last but they were like both 43 years of age. My grandmother gave birth to my uncle in June 11, of 1962, my mother in law gave birth to her last son July 23, 1973 My husband Birthday is June 6, 1962..weird having a uncle and husband exactly same age, same month, same year, and born within a week of each other..I think if they take care of themselves and try to keep healthy then things should be okay.

I do not know of anyone first hand that had a baby in their 40's. I would definitely want or need to know the donor for my own personal reasons.

I don't know anyone personally who has had a child in their 40's. I think if I was going to use and egg donor I would want to know who the donor was just so that I would know their medical history and things like that.

Well, I know some people who have had babies near to 40 years old. It is something to worry about, of course, due to the increased risks.

My neighbor just had her 5th baby at around the age of 40 (either 39 or 40, I forget forsure). It was a total surprise, she wasn't trying to get pregnant. She would have been happy being infertile. Her youngest before the baby was 7 years old, she was talking about finally going back to work and everything, then all of a sudden... surprise!! But it's okay, she and her hubby finally got the boy they wanted after 4 girls!

I knew some who had a baby in their forties, but it was not a donor baby. It was their own. I thought you had to be married young as a virgin, and had gotten pregnant several times successfully for you to conceive in your forties. Also being of Jewish ethnic background was a plus in your favor if you married late. Somehow that protected your genes against dangers. If you were Anglo-Saxon and had a past, that killed your chances. I would not want a donor. And I can understand stress. Why if you have been told that you were a bad girl, and no decent man would have you, by the time you married, even if you were in your twenties, you would have a hard time to get pregnant then, and impossible in your forties even if you had not finished menustrating yet.
