Royalty, why are they so special?

I really dislike how people do sickening things like bowing to Royalty and doing all the bidding of people "of royal blood." What is this garbage? If you take away the money they have and their fancy clothes and mansions they are just the same as us! Just because their dad was Fancy Mc Snooty-Pants and their mom was Girly Mc Prissy-Face, that doesn't mean anything...because those people were just as normal as the rest of us! They are just as bad or good at ruling over countries as the rest of us! The part I hate most is how you could actually show that they are normal and people still won't believe it...

Ummm I don’t know much about this royalty business coz in India, royalty was abolished and their properties made national properties, many years ago. However, this country is resplendent with royal tales and remnants of past grandeur and I genuinely feel that deny as we may, its got to do a lot with their genes. Maybe in present royalties, its got diluted a lot with free mixing and marriage, but the royalties of yesteryears had something special in their genes which set them apart from the ordinary people. And its not only money…there are billionaires the world over who are absolutely self-made but they are not the same as the royalty.

i agree with you wholeheartedly. no one is any better than anyone else and especially not because they have money. alot of people right now who are used to having money are feeling the pinch because of the economy and guess what? they have to cut back and learn to live just like the rest of us. royalty and celebrity mean nothing to me. they are just people who got lucky enough somehow to make whopping salaries are were born into rich families. i have more respect for people who live within their means and work for their money.

There is nothing special about them, except in their own minds usually. Without that name or title, they are just regular people who put their pants on one leg at a time just like I do. They are only so high and mighty because they have money.

There is nothing about royalty because they are the same in flesh and blood. As rightly pointed out above a royal family started when the head of the family did something extremely good or extremely bad. One royal family in South East Asia had pirates as their ancestors. I am not against kings as rulers if they rule wisely and do not regard themselves as special. Rulers should be chosen by the people. As it is the concept of a king has deviated from its original meaning. For example instead of governing the country with the people in their hearts most royal members live a high life, paid for by the poor struggling peasants. In case someone thinks I am jealous of the royal family, let me explain that my great grandfather was the Sultan of Solo. Due to a family fight with one of his siblings sided with the Dutch, he and two of his remaining siblings decided to migrate to the Malay Peninsula. They travelled separately with their respective families. Before they left, they agreed to discard their titles and Javanese names. The reason for their migration was kept a secret. Only a few knew and my father told me only part of it. Why? Because there is nothing special in being a royal person. all the best, rosdimy

well, things like this existed ages ago,now i dont think there should be any room for such stuff. we live in a democratic and secular state(as far as i am concerned),it would be stupid to treat anybody with such respect just because their grandpa used to be a ruler. Today your deeds are the reflection of your status, thats and there is no such thing as royal blood,we all have blood which is red in color. anyway, happy mylotting,

The idea of royality makes me laugh for two reasons. One, we honor these people because they're great-great-great-great-great-great-great(you get the idea) grandfather did something either really good to unite people or really bad to terrorize people into following them. They usually do not have the finer qualities their ancestors did. If left to fend for themselves, most royals would fail. I also find it funny, because ok let's say, and I don't personally believe this but some people do, having someone as your ancest makes you special, most royality are not even related to past kings and queens. For example, look at Queen Elizabeth II. She's more German than English and not related to a lot of British royality.
