Now I heard of everything. Tonight on the news a dog inter a grocery store and was caught on tape shop lifting. The dog looks like a German Shepard and he interned the store and headed straight for the dog food area. There he proceeded to sniff out the bones and chose a bone that would have cost $2.80. He excited the store and has not been apprehended to date. http://www.truveo.com/Store-has-bone-to-pick-with-shoplifting-dog/id/1831612162

I saw that and i had to watch it again, it was so funny to see the dog, he actually knew which isle to go to, smelling the scents i take it. Smart dog i would say. I wonder if he will try to get his bone again, or if he would come back and look in the doors. That was a great viedo. He seemed sure proud to get that chew bone.

sometimes dogs will listen. I thought it was funny when the manager said he wasn't going to pursue the dog and take the bone away from him.

It sounds like something that happened on a Dragnet show. In this case, the thieves used another dog to lure other pure bred dogs from rich owners and the thieves would hold and then call the owners to demand money for the dog's return. Maybe the owner of the German Shepherd had bought, correction, stolen some Dragnet dvds and got his idea from watching that episode. So obviously the owner of this dog had it trained to steal the bones. I wonder if there was a leash law, so when you get the two thieves, human as well as animal, you can prosecute the former on having a dog loose in the store.

I doubt that the dog had been trained because that would mean that the owner would have had to take the dog into the store a few times. If he had then the cashers and the manager would have recognized the dog since dogs aren't allowed into grocery stores unless they are helper dogs. Dogs have a very keen sense of smell and could smell the bones from the door way.

LOL hope they don't pawcuff him if they catch him hehehe I guess we can take this two ways....either we find it cute, or we start musing about how bad things are nowadays that even the dogs have to resort to shoplifting to be able to eat ;) Myself I find it cute :)

That's a funny video! Thank you for sharing it! The dog looks like either a Malamute or an Alaskan Husky for me. That dog is smart as he knew exactly where to steal food and did it as fast as he can. I wonder if who owns that dog.

Thats too cute. Dogs and cats do know what they like. I have crazy cats. They know the difference between cheap cat food and the name brand stuff. They will tear open a bag of the name brand stuff. Since I have 4 cats and they eat like pigs. I will buy name brand and generic brand cat food and then mis it. They pick out the god stuff and eat that first. They do eventually eat the other, if I have to eat cheap they are too. Hey you gave me an idea, maybe the cats could go in the store and get their own food. That reminds me, when I was a kid. We had this cat, she would go in peoples yards and steal their food. I imagine it was food they were getting ready to cook on the grill. She came home wh steaks, chicken, stuff like that. Can you imagine what the people thought, hehe.

I'll bet the neighborhood would like to have caught that kitty. I'll bet they wondered if they were loosing their mind. I know I would have. He knew what was good.If you get your cats to go get their own food let me know and I start sending my to the store to get hers too.

By the way the dog resembles more like an Alaskan Malamute rather than a German Shepherd dog. Notwithstanding his breed he seems a very intelligent dog.

I'm not all that familiar with some breeds of dogs. But He sure is intelligent to know right where to go to get what he wanted.

I don't think a bone would fill him up. He probably wanted something to chew on as most dogs do.

I think I've seen something similar to this, it was some type of bird that went to the chip rack and got chips everyday.

The dog is heavy enough to have the automatic doors open So I wonder how the bird got in to get the chips? Silly bird doesn't know how bad those chips are for him.

Now I've heard it all. This really takes the cake. How did the dog get in the store in the first place and why would it go directly to the dog food? Dogs usually go for anything that smells like food!

He entered though one of those automatic opening doors. and headed straight for the dog food isle and chose a raw hide bone. He wan't interested in any meat.

Haha! That is such a cute story. I don't understand how a dog just got in though, I'm pretty sure that if a dog is going to be allowed in any store, especially with no person, they would not be allowed near so much food! Plus, why would he get a boring dog bone? Why didn't he go to the meats and grab a nice juicy turkey?

If you look at the video you can see he entered the store through those automatic opening doors. The manager did try to stop him. He told the dog to drop the raw hide bone but the dog just passed him by and went out of the store. I guess he just wanted a bone.

hehehhee thats so cute.... i dint see the video... just read the post and thought it was damn cute... if i had a shop and saw a dog coming in.... an animal lover that i am i wouldnt let him shop lift at all.... i would go my self and give the dog the best from the shop..... coming to think of it now.... probably i would have a shop for dogs itself where they could come and pick what they liked.... wow thats a nice idea there.... but i would have to have seperate cabins or they once in a while could get into a fight..... :P
