I am not able to tell anything more than you already know as I'm from India and I've never been to America.

Hi vanities! I think that it's really nice that you are
interested in our beautiful "Lady of the Harbor"! I live
in New York, about 45 minutes from Manhattan. The Statue of
Liberty is just beautiful up close! I have never been up
inside it only right near it! It has no elevator, only lots
of stairs! I don't think that people can go all the way up
anymore, but I'm not sure. I know that after 9/11 they had
closed it off for awhile to tourists. It is open now, but I
don't know if you can go to the top or not! It is quite a
climb I've heard! But, it is beautiful to see, especially
at night all lit up in the harbor!

yes i have been there on Thanksgiving 2006. it was such a nice experience. when i saw it, i feel like crying . its because i feel so lucky to see it and millions of people are dying to see it.
you need to go ride on a ferry that goes to the staten island. the ferry will transport you to the island. it is a tourist destination and a lot of people go there everyday. the ferry will take you back too. we didnt have the chance to go up the statue because there was a long line . but i think there is an elevator.
