just curious on the statue of liberty...

I am not able to tell anything more than you already know as I'm from India and I've never been to America.

I have not seen it yet....but my one daughter moved to New York so when I visit that will be one of the things that we will do....I can't wait to see it.

I was there sometime between 1974-1976. We were able to get to the crown windows, but the upraised arm access was closed - I don't remember if they were fixing it or if there were safety issues that can't be fixed.

I've never been since I'm here in Texas but then i'm not crazy about heights..lol..and yes i think there is an elevator to the top..

Hi vanities! I think that it's really nice that you are interested in our beautiful "Lady of the Harbor"! I live in New York, about 45 minutes from Manhattan. The Statue of Liberty is just beautiful up close! I have never been up inside it only right near it! It has no elevator, only lots of stairs! I don't think that people can go all the way up anymore, but I'm not sure. I know that after 9/11 they had closed it off for awhile to tourists. It is open now, but I don't know if you can go to the top or not! It is quite a climb I've heard! But, it is beautiful to see, especially at night all lit up in the harbor!

I have not been. I hope to do some traveling in the near future. I might hit this spot, then I will let you know what I find.

yes i have been there on Thanksgiving 2006. it was such a nice experience. when i saw it, i feel like crying . its because i feel so lucky to see it and millions of people are dying to see it. you need to go ride on a ferry that goes to the staten island. the ferry will transport you to the island. it is a tourist destination and a lot of people go there everyday. the ferry will take you back too. we didnt have the chance to go up the statue because there was a long line . but i think there is an elevator.
