I can't believe I am going to be buying a house.

It is so hard to believe that after all my struggles and worries that I would never own a house. But days come and go I guess. Yesterday we put in our very first offer for a house. Together that is. When I was 18 I started into a rent to own and my boyfriend then F-ed it up for us but lucky because of criminal charges against him the owners let me go with the lease and buying of the house and just rented to me for a few months. My ex bought a house with his ex old lady so we have both been house looking before.
Together over the year or so that we have been together, we have told each other pretty much everything to the point where you know where to stop cuz they just know the rest of what your going to say. We told each other about what we hated at our old house's, he told me how he got stuck with this other house because it was a block away from his inlaws, just things that we both weren't happy with, with the old houses. To be on the same page. Now in this house the garage is like a 6 car garage, 3 big truck doors and the current owners have a 53' motor home parked in there. I love the yard he loves the garage. So right there we are different, but we are both happy with it that way. He does work on the cars and it saves us BIG money being able to fix the things ourselves, and get paid to help others sometimes. So it's fine with me to have a big garage to help make my boy happy. I love the yard for my dogs. I have dogs he has kids. We have 4.5 acers, and we would be putting in a HUGE dog run. Sure we would be off the highway and all but I want my dogs to be safe. We also have a WONDERFUL tree line that he didnt so much like. I explained that we could build a chain link fence and put it infront of the trees. Letting us see through the fence and have that whole yard fenced in for his younger kids 4 -8. I think he was to OMG about the garage to realize this whole yard aspect I have.
We went indoors and imediatly fell in love with this house. Personally I wasn't to sure if he liked it, but knew we were keeping quiet until the 1 hour drive back to the city. lol. The main floor has a eat in kitchen, dinning room with built in china cabnits, huge open living room with fire place and padio doors, 3 bedrooms 1 bathroom and a ensuit bathroom for the master of course. The basement has a laundry room, cold room, fireplace, living room, bar, another half bathroom ( with enough space to through in a shower), and another unfinished bedroom.
Now I love the fireplaces on both floors but I wish there was one in the bedroom, and that is one thing I was looking for. But he never wanted that in the first place having one in the bedroom. So we had some differences that we knew from the begining, but after our long drive home we talked about everything. I explained what my expectations or MUSTS were for the yard If we were to get the place. It would be out in the country so I want the safety for the kids and the pets while they are outside. No wild life attacks in my yard thanks. He explained what he wanted to re do in the house and what we would need after moving out to this place. WE agreed on the house and we think its a great idea for us.
I think we both decided earlier when we started looking at houses that until we bought it we didn't want to tell our family. We both picked a friend each and let them in on the secret, just because we needed someone to know, and being a friend if someone was going to talk us out of it I would rather it be a friend then family.
So today we gave our call to the owners and gave our offer. They said they would call us Monday. So here's to waiting for the call Monday!!
Anyone that thinks they will never own a house, you know you might not I can't promise you will, but I can promise that if you try and you work hard and you stick to it, one day you will have a house. I am 22 and I am able to get a house. I had money problems in the past, but I worked my butt off in school and at work to get where I am today. This is a gift to yourself, work hard then treat yourself. Its a great feeling. I had to talk my boyfriend out of buying the big boy toys, and make him think of his future. He left his ex, he already had a family, a house, and cars. Now that he didn't have a house and just rent to pay he didn't care. He wanted a quad and a truck and this and that. After its all added up, 10 years from now we would still be renting. I showed him some money options for us, showed him some houses, showed him a few cities. Now he is ready on his own saying he does want a house. It would work out better then a quad or brand new truck that's for sure!
Good luck everyone! Never give up.

Congratz on your new home. :) Home ownership has always been a dream of mine. It's good to see someone work hard and achieve their dreams. I hope you have many great years in our new place.
