I would like to share this parable for all of us.
Its a nice inspiration for all of us as we face the new year ahead.
The Pencil Maker took the pencil aside, just before putting him into the box.
"There are 5 things you need to know," he told the pencil, "Before I send you out into the world. Always remember them and never forget, and you will become the best pencil you can be."
"One: You will be able to do many great things, but only if you allow yourself to be held in Someone's hand."
"Two: You will experience a painful sharpening from time to time, but you'll need it to become a better pencil."
"Three: You will be able to correct any mistakes you might make."
"Four: The most important part of you will always be what's inside."
"And Five: On every surface you are used on, you must leave your mark. No matter what the condition, you must continue to write."
The pencil understood and promised to remember, and went into the box with purpose in its heart.
Now replacing the place of the pencil with you. Always remember them and never forget, and you will become the best person you can be.
One: You will be able to do many great things, but only if you allow yourself to be held in God's hand. And allow other human beings to access you for the many gifts you possess.
Two: You will experience a painful sharpening from time to time, by going through various problems in life, but you'll need it to become a stronger person.
Three: You will be able to correct any mistakes you might make.
Four: The most important part of you will always be what's on the inside.
And Five: On every surface you walk through, you must leave your mark. No matter what the situation, you must continue to do your duties.
Allow this parable on the pencil to encourage you to know that you are a special person and only you can fulfill the purpose to which you were born to accomplish.
Never allow yourself to get discouraged and think that your life is insignificant and cannot make a change.

What a good and short allegorical story designed to illustrate or teach some truth, religious principle, or moral lesson. Just like rain water to big farm land, pouring blessing for five steps of growth development. Really equilibrium in fits and gaps, justly like "Everything But The Kitchen Sink"*: I'm honored you choose discussion to discern one's life. Thank you, Zelmarq.

Almost everything and anything has been included.

Zelmarq,
This was very beautiful and touching. I must admit when you were relating it to the pencil it was beautiful. When you replaced the pencil with people it became touching. This is very well put especially for people who feel as if they do not have anything going for them or that they are all washed up. They can go into the New Year with a spirit of expectancy and know that their live is not over it is a new beginning.
Thank you for sharing Happy New Year!!!

this parable is so cute and touching... i couldn't agree more with you especially the first part that we have to let God, our Creator to hold our hands and guide our life if we want to be able to do many great things... this is what i always try to remember in my life... take care and have a nice day...

it will be even wiser to remember zelmarq that, for mistakes that we can never correct as they fall in the category of what's done cannot be undone, let us always bear a humble heart that can admit to the wrong doing, say sorry from the innermost recesses of our being and thus resolve never to do that wrong thing ever again.
there is no way that anyone of us can allow life's disappointments and discouragements to get us downtrodden, our fights and our battles in life are there only to be fought and won.
nice sharing deep insights about life wth you, zelmarq.

i guess i heard this.. hmm, from where.. i wonder.. hehe.. bitaw, the parable indeed is a great parable dealing with some of the most hitting point and great idea in our lives. the parable indeed is a way to reach each ones ability to make a change for the better. i myself is challenged by this parable and tried it to connect with the WOrd of the Lord.. and i hope and pray that next year would be really a different. making a mark on every step. and do the 5 things that a pencil does.. Happy new year!! thanks a lot!

whats inside? inside a pencil is lead that can cause a lot of damage to children. Joke har har har. just trying to make you laugh. yes i agree the parable of pencil is very true. specially the part of experiencing painful sharpenings from time to time. but you should learn from that pain to be a better person. on the part of allowing a yourself to be held.... not just to God.... of course God would be on the top but also with the people who we love. this is a nice parable i will keep this and when the time is right i will let my child read this and learn form it. thanks for sharing

Great Parable, Zelmarq. I think the hard part for many is being willing to allow other human beings to access you for the many gifts you possess after being through some painful sharpenings. Sometimes we coat our inner selves over to protect us and become useless.
