Do you believe that the Earth is in trouble? That we need to clean it up or it won't be around for our grandchildren? Do you believe in the things that Al Gore brought to our attention in An Inconvenient Truth? If not, what is your belief on this subject?

I agree, we have to clean up our act and clean up the Earth. In geologic terms, humanity is a "Johny come lately" on Earth but we have already done a lot of damage. We really don't know of the Earth's threshold of endurance as a living organism, but researches have shown that there have been several general die-offs of existing lifeforms on Earth in certain epochs. After each general die-off, the Earth would recover, minus the vast majority of existing lifeforms. The cockroach, though, has shown remarkable resilience and survival capacity. If we continue our course unchanged, perhaps the cockroach will inherit the Earth. There are small things that we can do about the sorry state of Mother Earth even at the household level. Some enlightened families in my tribe, the Bagobo Clata Indigenous People of Davao City, has made it a habit of planting a "twin tree" for every newborn in their households. The "twin tree" cannot be cut except on the say so of the human "twin," which is not easily given. Why not make this practice worldwide? Why don't we plant a tree for every newborn?

I have seen An Inconvenient truth. Pretty scary stuff. I think it is the responsibility of us all to put forth the effort to care for our planet. Recycle etc. Set a good example for the kids. We sure do try to.

HI celtic~I do believe that we need to start taking care of the Earth now. I believe that we are definitely experiencing some type of weather changes already which would explain the Global Warming Effects. It is obvious to some parts of the world that the Earth is changing and that parts are already in danger and wild life is already suffering. And I do believe that we need to recycle and clean up now or the Earth will really be in trouble by the time the grandchildren get older. There is no doubt that Al Gore has spoken the truth and that we must heed the warnings now!
