If you are talking about Type II Diabetes, then yes.. it is curable. If you are talking about Type I Diabetes, I do not believe there is a cure since that refers to people who are born diabetic and require insulin to regulate their blood sugars.
I am Type II Diabetic and the best way to reverse this type of diabetes is to eat a very low carb diet and exercise. Even if it's just a little exercise a day, every little bit counts.
Since I've been watching my carb intake, my blood sugar numbers have dropped to a normal range and I feel great. I know a lot of people do not support the Atkins diet plan but most of them have not read his book and really researched it with their doctors. My doctor encourages me to follow the Atkins diet to help with my diabetes and I think any smart doctor would do the same.
I do not know any Type II diabetic who started eating Low Carb and didn't have positive results in their readings. Everyone I know who is following that way of eating, is doing 110% better than they have ever done on other eating plans.
A typical daily menu for me is:
Breakfast: 2 scrambled eggs in a small amount of butter and 3 slices of bacon.
Snack: 1 celery stalk with 1 tablespoon of Sugar Free Peanut Butter
Lunch: Turkey, Cheese and Lettuce rolls (take slices of turkey and cheese .. and roll them up with lettuce) + 1/2 cup of veggie soup
Snack: 15-20 Roasted Almonds
Dinner: Small dinner salad with ranch dressing (no crutons or carrots), 6 oz steak & 1/2 cup steamed broccoli.
Dessert: Mini Sugar Free Cheesecake Muffin with Sugar Free Fruit Topping.
I drink 10 glasses of water a day plus iced tea if I want, sweetened with Splenda.
I am always full and my blood sugar numbers are always in a normal range when I eat like this.
There is a great site with lots of recipes and information on eating low carb, it's called www.lowcarbfriends.com
If you are diabetic, I wish you a lot of good luck and please check out the site - it will help and there are great people there who can answer your questions too.
Take Care

You are so right about Atkins being misunderstood. I do not do Atkins per se, but Protein Power, which is similar. I make a killer Italian cheesecake that is to die for. I get requests for it at the holidays. I sweeten it with stevia, and liquid splenda, or now a new sweetner, made from chickory root.
Last week I sent for a diabetic cookbook as I am trying to get my Mom to give up the white stuff. But I was saddened by the fact most of the items were 30 carbs and up. This was from the ADA, they need to rethink things, lower carb is better.
