I am bored!

I am a bit bored with Mylot! I guess I am suffering from MBOS (Mylot Burn Out Syndrome). I can't think of anything to talk about, burst into tears when I read "A or B - which do you like?" type of discussions, and feel like taking a long vacation by the seaside and do nothing but count the sands at day time and the stars at night. Ever felt like this? What do you do when you feel like this? Right now, I can't take a vacation. Got loads of work to do!! Cheers and happy Mylotting

There is not one single topic that has not been done before and often more than once but that is the nature of these types of foums. Whilst it does not exactly help it does explain why, from time to time, we all get bored or as you say suffer from MBOS. Because of my work committments I am often in a position where I cannot get here to myLot for days and in the past that could have been weeks or months in fact. Those breaks alone stopped me from contracting that terrible MBOS "disease" so my thinking is that maybe you need a break of a day or three. Then you can see whether you are looking at myLot through fresh and different eyes or whether your sabbatical needs to be a little longer for it to be really effective. Another thing is that in recent times we have seen so many discussions, in one form or another, started on the subject on Christmas. The new ones of course are about New Year and what we would like to happen in 2009, i.e. our dreams and aspirations for the coming year. Once or twice it is okay but to respond to them but many members (including myself) simply lose interest in repeating the same thing over and over again. It is not the topic started though as everyone wants to get responses to their own discussions. The other thing is that a search will often not show that a topic has been started yet because the same type of discussion can be started by more than one member at the same time. Good luck to you and I suggest taking a break from myLot for a couple of days and after that you could possibly come back and look at things through new eyes.

Thanks for giving me best response to your discussion an dit is really appreciated. Yes it can be hard taking time off from the internet, just as it is hard to stop phoning our best friend every day, if you do those things on a regular basis. It does take something away from the day. Do you read at all? If so, see if you can get a couple of good books that might interest you and spend some time each day reading them. It is just a bit of a change and that sort of thing does help a lot to give you a new outlook. The alternative is that if you are interested in anything in particular then you use some of the internet time doing research on the subject. For example my partner and I have a small farmlet where we grow organic fruit and vegetables, so I would do some research on that. I might also look up some recipes for making things using our own produce, working out ways that we can adapt the original recipe to one that we would prefer. Good luck and I hope that you cane come back to myLot, refreshed after taking a short sabbatical.

Hi oldboy, yup, I love reading and gardening. I have got a little garden out there. :) And of course, loads of books. :)

What a refreshing and sensible outlook oldboy! It has gotten to the point for me that if a discussion does not inspire a new response in me then I just do not respond. I am so tired of telling the story of how I got my username for example. And really, that is all my 'breaks from MyLot' consist of... just not posting much, because I am addicted to my computer I could not deliberately stay away for days!!! Well, I could, but that would be a very EXTREME case!

Hi! I recently hear my sister say the same thing... I"M BORED! And she'is pregnant by the way. She's supposed to be excited. I don't know what to say to her. I just said find things that are not a regular routine work for you. Find something interesting to do which you haven't done in a lon time.

HI Positiveminded1977. If I were you I would just unplug my computer and go for a walk. I would not log on to mylot until I feel ready for it. Otherwise you would end up just wasting time here. It's not the first time that I had the MBOS and ended up staring at the screen.

Hi positiveminded, Well I get like that sometimes with some mylot discussions so I just go on to my other site or write a blog then come back to it, but I don't ofeten get bored with mylot though. Tamara

This is quite normal because we have contributed a lot and come to the stage that we need to recharge. It is good to rest for a while and the new ideas will emerge from our brain. We can read some books to absorb more.

If it's any consolation my friend we all go through this 'patch' one time or another and I am no exception, some days I think, I just can't be bothered and just don't have the energy or inclination to post or discuss, but those days pass, if you give Mylot a break then come back to it you will enjoy it more, it does become a chore if you feel you have to log in and respond every single day, like anything in life, familiarity breeds contempt as they say. A break is a good as the rest, forgive the cliches but I hear what you are saying and in the end you just shrug it off, have a laugh. Have a wonderful new year my friend, wishing you a healthy and happy one.

Hi positive, I have the same feeling and I am trying to divert my attention doing other stuff and watching my favorite series.... I am working here for 20 minutes each day, I can't be active as before like spending 4-5 hours here!

Yeah, I'm pretty bored with it too. Over the course of the year I've been here I've seen people say that the only reason they come on anymore is just for their friends, and that is about where I have arrived with it myself. If it wasn't for you and a couple others I'd be outta here.

Yes positive, you are one of the ones that I stay here because of... if I deleted all but 3 or 4 avatars on my friends page yours would be among the ones remaining.

I am like that right now. The problem is that rarely do I read a genuinely new discussion. Most have been here before and I've relied to them or posted them myself! So I spend a while just dipping in and out whilst catching up with other stuff. Now the sea sounds alike a good place to go. Come on, we'll go together. Sandals or bare feet on the sand. I prefer bare feet. I love to feel the squishiness of the sand as it oozes up between my toes. No - you can't take your salwar trousers off here just because that wave caught you. Funny though. You weren't expecting it. Did you bring the picnic? No, I've got it. Oh you did. That's OK, then we'll pool our food and make a day of it. Now, let's make a sandcastle, stand on it and dare the waves to soak us!

I'm inviting you all to the Island where I live. The sun is shining and it is so hot right now that I was glad to get back into my office and now have the ac going full blast. The sea is smooth with just a few turquoise waves kissing the shore. We have kayaks so would you like to do a little kayaking to another beach? As for food - don't worry, I will supply all the food and drink that you want. And what about a sunset cruise by boat along the coast anyone? I've even got spades and buckets on hand. Anyone game enoough to come? You are all invited! Blessings.

Don't you just hate it when you see discussions that are of no brainer and of absolutely no interest to others, namely those that you have just mentioned! It's like what we like or what we prefer is like of no interest to anybody else isn't it? And the worst thing is that some starts these sort of discussions just to rack up their discussion counts and at the same time to jack up their earnings! I just hate it! These are the exact 'poll' like questions that are against Mylot's TOS and well bringing down the entertainment value of Mylotting such that Mylot is no longer such an enjoyable place to be in any longer. High 5 my friend! I too, just feel like taking a long vacation by the beach doing nothing but just enjoy the serenity of what nature has to offer me. But the same thing like you, I just can't do that as I have lots of responsibilities at present moment =( Sigh~ But I believe that we will be able to achieve that dream one of these days, so long as we believe wholeheartedly that we will be able to take that sort of vacation! Continue to believe in what you want to have my friend and you will achieve it one day! Take care and happy mylotting to you too~!!

Yes I feel that too. But not for a long period of time. I posted that problem of yours a couple of weeks ago. What they advised to me was just rest for a while a day or two without opening your computer. Look for another diversion to refresh your mind. I am sure you're not living on an isolated place. Go on window shopping, watch movies relax yourself by giving a break...cheers and happy new year

Personally, I think every person who has been active here for any time, has felt like this a time or two. I have even had to almost force myself a time or two to be a little more active in here each month if I am going to reach payout. But it really is up to you. If you feel like you need a Break from here for a while, go do some other things, and enjoy yourself. You will know when the time is right to come back. Even though there will be many of us who will miss you, the choice should be yours, and hope whatever you decide it ends up being the Best for you as well.

Yea I guess everyone here go's through mylot burn out sometimes, Iv definitely had those days were I cant think of anything interesting to talk about or I dont feel like discussing anything, but I stay motivated by the fact that if I dont post I wont make payout and also I want to make sure I dont forget my friends here at mylot too I want to make sure I help them make payout too, so I think about a lot of factors to help me stay motivated but there are days were I may take a brake and go shopping or just relax and watch DVDs or do a few aron's just live sometimes it helps to take a few short brakes to help you think of fresh ideas and keep you from getting bored with mylotting. Well cheers and happy new year.

I've been bored with myLot recently too. I haven't been posting as much as I did in the past weeks. Today is actually the most I've posted this week and I only posted about 20 times. I didn't know what to write about and the topics seemed repetitive before. Now I'm trying to find discussions I can say a lot about and trying to just make more money.

Yeah, I hear you. I'm so new to mylot(only responded to, i guess 40 discussions) and already bored. I can't find that many interestingdiscussions and am forced to respond to discussions like " What will you wear today?" or "Do you think green is better then blue?". It's too BOOOOOOOOOORRRING!!
