Meeting the future in-laws

My younger son is getting married, we have already met his fiance, obviously. To night being New Years Eve, we are going to meet the rest of her family. It seems that she has a large one so it will be coming and going from seven thirty to midnight. My husband had a stroke, so we will be staying on the main floor and not going to the basement and there will be lots of food there so I feel that I can cheat on my diet for once, except for the champagne - yes we got real champagne not just sparkling wine. I can only have so much. So the question is, before the celebrations, do you decide to eat less for supper so you will have more room, or do you eat regularly because you feel you will work it all off anyway?

Well I hope it went well and they were nice people.I hope you eat what you wanted and drank champagne.Congratulations to your son and hope he will be very happy.I normally eat properly or maybe a bit less than normal, just do a lot of dancing and it will burn off before it settles.

This discussion is not about "my favorite quotations" or "proverbs you should live by" it is about going to a party or a gathering where they have a lot of snack food in the late evening and whether you eat normally or whether you decide to skip dinner so you will eat the food at the party.

No, when ever there is a celebration. I always eat before hand. That way I do not over eat on thinsg that I am not suppose to eat. Having alot of stuff I should not have is tempting. I know what it is like when people will say oh one will not hurt you, take a bite. But in the end it does hurt me.

food is one of my weakness. Especially sweets. I cannot say no to sweets. If I don't see any sweets in my eye sight It would not be a problem for me but if I see any I wouild want to taste it.

I usually just eat what I want to eat and then work it off later. I hope you all had a wonderful time. Happy New Year.

Because I am a diabetic I have to eat every four hours, so I would still have to watch what I eat and eat small. Because of this I cant go crazy on food or miss a meal so that I can eat what I want. :-) HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

I have to be careful not to eat too much meat. The trouble is I really do not like anything that is fried or greasy, but i thought it was okay for just that once.

It all depends on where I am going and if they will have food I will like is the deciding factor on if I will be eating before the party or at the party. If I know it will have foods I am not fond of I will eat ahead of time. Also if I am on a special diet I will eat ahead of time so I won't be so strongly tempted on a full stomach to eat something I am not allowed. But if all signs are a go and no diet I will eat at the party.

Hello dear suspenseful friend. I wish you to have a lot of fun with the meeting of your future-in-laws. Well, if I feel hungry before the celebration, I will eat a little bit to keep hunger away from me, but not too much because I want to have some more room for the dinner. This is what I will do and usually do. Happy New Year to you, friend.

I always eat before going to a party expecially where there is beverages or champagne in your case being served, then you can just nibble at the party and shouldnt blow the diet to bad.Happy New Year and best wishes for a healthy 2009.Congrats on getting a new daughter-in-law.
