Did you sit up all night and herald the new year with dancing and cheer....Or did you spent your time quietly at home.....As for me,I prefer to welcome the New year by waking up early after a good night's beauty sleep, rather than sitting up the whole night and getting up late on the first day of the year, half asleep and in a foul mood due to lack of sleep....What about you guys?

I hve an excellent start on the beginning of a New Year. I have both my Grandchildren here for a sleep over. My daughter wanted to host a New Years Party at their place and I said, well why not have your friends in, I get to have you to myself for Christmas and I'll take the kids to my house for a sleep over and you can have them back New Years Day. She agreed so I have the kids. I made supper, did dishes, we made cookies and I promised them we could make buns after breakfast. It's 10:13 pm, the kids are tucked in to their beds and here I am!!! What would I do without myLot??? lol

Hi Rose, First of all A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU. I started my day with you in Mylot. Yesterday we slept around 12.30 AM, just watched TV progarmmes. Usually we are going to bed on around 11.30 PM so it is not hard to spend half an hour more for the special day. My younger one was running here and there and busy with his work. It is very difficult to get him on bed and he goes to bed only after switching off all the lights, so yesterday he was very happy, he got more time for playing. Another thing, New Year day is not a holiday for us, so we can't sleep more time in the morning and the winter is getting severe, it is really nice to sleep in morning but no luck.

I agree the climate is disturbing but it keep us fresh everytime, and woke up in the morning is also a problem then also I won't suggest to stay in Kerala. You know why, in 2007, I was there for 3 months on my maternity leave, and that time the 'guniya fever' was spreading and I was also a victim. So I decided that time not to stay there more than one month, it was really an unpleasant (terrible) experience with the little one and the pain last almost one year.

Oh my that is really said......I have heard about the after effects of having chicken guinea...and with the baby it must have been a terrible ordeal to you.....Fortunately I have developed a thick skin since I have lived here all my life.........he..he... But I am told the extremities of climate in Delhi is unbearable......but I guess you get adjusted to it,since you have no other choice, isnt it.....

Ah yes with a super active toddler in the house, every day must be new year eve for you since you end up sleeping late........And I did read abot the bad weather in the papers and did wonder how you and deepak were faring in that climate.I am glad you were able to make it ot the office though...Dont you feel at times like this that our Kerala climate is much better, except when there is heavy rains........ Any way wish you a very happy and wonderful 2009 once again.....

Wish you and your family a Happy New Year. I slept at around 1 am. My kids like to stay awake to welcome the new year so we sit together every year with snacks and cold drinks. Ofcourse I woke up at 5 am to go to church and then to come to office. But I am not in a foul mood because of lack of sleep. Will try to wind up my work early today and sleep early.

There was a time some years ago that TV programmes would be so good on New Years eve that people who did not want to stay awake were also glued to the TV sets. Nowadays there are no interesting programmes anytime. I have got bored of Television now.

Oh dear lovablebee.......come on cheer up,you dont have to be so sad .After all your graduation is more important than celebrating the heralding of a New year which you can any way celebrate every year......And what better way to start a new year than to prepare and do well for your graduation which will infact give a new start to your future career and prospects...So this is not a moment to be sad,but to be happy and I hope you have a great year and a wonderful future ahead of you....Good luck and god bless......

i spend my new year eve at home... my church friends come to my house for a seafood BBQ dinner... and then we have a gift exchange session... and then we listen to an end of year reflections from an evangelist... it ended up about 10.30 pm... after that, i and my hubby have to clean up the house... we just watch the fireworks from the TV to welcome 2009 and then went to bed after that because we are too tired... i prefer to wake up fresh on a new year day as well... take care and have a nice day...

You are a wise person, who prefer sleep rather than sitting in front of 'idot box'. I also did the same, there was no question of waking up till late at night and I also do not believe in extending my wishes on New Year to my near and dear ones at 12 midnight. I do not want to disturb them. I did it earlier or will do it today. It is freezing cold here in Delhi, one does not feel like coming out of quilt in the morning, but as it is a working day and the first day of the New Year, I had to come to office, so I am in office. WISH YOU A VERY VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

You did the right thing, by sending messages in advance, but it was perhaps not possible to ignore calls of your son(s). You appear lukcy, because you are enjoy the 'moderate' climate. Thanks for your wishes!!

Hi Dpk....I too sent greetings to all my family and friends well in advance,so as not to wake them up in the middle of the night. But both my sons rang me up at midnight and wished me and it was in fact wonderful to talk to them.I also enjoyed some fireworks near my place from my balcony and went back to sleep ..... Yes I did read about the cold in your place and I do hope everything comes back to normal soon...It is at times like this that I feel thankful that I have a moderate climate here through out...Wish you a happy 2009 too.......

Hi rose08! My husband and I spent our New Year's Eve with my brother in law and his family. We stayed there until dawn with all the eating, drinking and story telling. We had a few hour sleep because the following morning we have to attend a family reunion. Now, I am seeing some dark circles around my eyes...Yikes! And just like you, if I could have my way I will be just spending New Year with a good night beauty sleep and wake up early the following day with so much energy and freshness. Take care always! Happy New Year! lovelots..faith210

Hi Rose, My wife and I went dancing on New Years Eve and had a really great time. After everyone had welcomed the New Year and we had another couple of dances we returned home and just slept in an extra hour in the morning. We later spent some time with family. I agree that staying up really late, especially if one likes to drink, can make for a miserable New Years Day. Blessings.

Hi again Rose, I am sure that I must give that same impression to a lot of readers, but I am not always serious and life is meant to be enjoyed. It is when we take things to the extreme that problems arise. I am so happy that you and Alamode have renewed your friendship here, She has also responded to some of my posts recently, so I think she may be getting active here again. A great way to begin the new year because I know your friendship has meant a lot to you. Blessings.

i have never been a real big fan of new years eve. i am not in to the loud party scene and i think standing in the cold in time square is big yawn. i prefer to stay home and would not mind being invited to a house party or something like that but nothing too big. i think it might be fun to get really dressed up one time and go out on the town but we usually do not have money for such things. years ago when i was younger the guy i was going out with liked to go out to a nice dinner and have a drink or two and then we would go home but at least we got out a bit. my husband does not like to do much and is not real social so we tend to not have that many friends we can get together with.

i spent the day with my family and we had some fun. we went on a shopping spree and my wife bought 3 pairs of shoes while i bought myself a pair of jeans and a sweater for my son. it was fun and crowded as they are having a sale so we could get the items for a bargain. thereafter, we went for dinner at a restuarant and at night we went for a mahjong session while the nanny took my son home.

I cant sleep the whole day for our neighbor lets their music very laud i think in the maximum volume from 12 midnight up to 8 in the mourning. it is just 5 meter away from my bed room so annoying but i cannot report it for they said it lets the evil spirit go away. Well, at home we just eat our midnight snack together with my parents and sisters after we pray. And we played music very laud too but just for a an hour only. Then we go sleep but cant do it so my sister dicided to wtch a movie until we feel very sleepy that we can no longer hear the laud music. Happy new year.

I spent it with my mother and sister and some neighbors in the compound. We exchanged gift and i got a bull cap. I gave a Penshoppe wallet for my Manito. Hope he likes it. I was awake until 5am that's why i'm still feeling a little bit sleepy. I don't know but i'm usually awake at during those hours but this time it's kinda affecting me tremendously. It really takes a lot to get me to sleep but good thing is i'm not in a foul mood today except for volumes of yawning. lol!
