Today is the 120th rose bowl parade. I uasually watch it every year and did again this year. They always have such fantastic floats. I do like to see the equestrians too. It is remarkable the way they use all the plants to make those floats. The bands are so good. They work so hard when chosen to be in the parade. It seemed like they didn't do as good a coverage as usual. they didn't show as much of the floats as I remember them doing. Did or do you watch the rose bowl parade?

I watch the Rose Bowl Parade every year. This year they had some great floats. All the animals were fantastic! Even the float with the little dog skate boarding was something else - smart dog! Here is a link to one of those dogs on the skateboard. Their trainer has to be great with dogs to get them to do that.
I loved the Hee Haw float. I didn't realize Marty Stewart and his wife was on there, though, until my daughter told me. I went back on Tivo and looked and finally saw him. The Sesame Street float was nice, too. Oh, I have to admit, I just love all the flower floats, especially the ones with all the vases of flowers hanging down. Gorgeous!
It is amazing what they can do with flowers and other things such as seaweed, rice, etc. When they showed close-ups of the animals' eyes, it was amazing the detail put into them.
Did you see the float with the swimming pool? The guy who was in charge of it explained how they built it so it would make it around the treacherous curve they had to maneuver around to keep it from tilting over. I was amazed at the amount of water in that thing! These people who think up these floats are smart!

I missed the float with the swimming pool. It must have been something else to see. I did see the one with the little dog on his skate board. He sure was cute. Those flower floats are just something else. As you said the imagination used to make all the plants fit in just the right place is remarkable too. Wouldn't it be something to see in person.

I was sitting here this morning, watching the parade. And I thought, what a nice thing it would be to be able to go to Pasadena next year and watch them make some of those floats. Of course, I know it would be impossible unless I won the sweepstakes, but it's nice to dream!

Hello DeeBomb, Happy New Year, I hope its the best ever. I haven't even had tv on yet, I have been getting caught up with some of my work on ebay. Its been such a busy time of year. Can you imagine seeing and smelling all the floats in person. It has to smell so good with all the flowers. Some people have such artistic talents to come up with some of the ideas. I have watched and enjoyed the parade before. Take care.

Drat!! I missed it this year! First time I think I ever missed it. I actually slept in for once...ten hours in a row (that in itself is amazing lol) I just love that parade :-) When you think of all the time, labor, and creativeness that goes into each and every one of those floats, you just have to marvel at them. One time they did a program on the inner & outer construction of those floats and it just blew me away. All the mechanical underworkings and all... I rather watch that one than the Macy's parade lol.

Yes I watched it and I am always in awe that all those floats are made of flowers and the petals of flowers... just amazing. I was fascinated by one of the commentaters talking about how the drive the float that the driver can't see anything so there are spotters that tell them to go left, right, etc... that was pretty amazing I thought
Thanks

It was a great parade as they always are wasn't it. I would like to see a complete program on how these floats are made and the mecheisms that drive them. I think that would be as interesting as see the finished product. i know they show some of it but not enough as far as I'm concerned.

Happy New Year! It just wouldn't seem like new year's Day without the Rose parade Luckily there was some really great weather for it this year and the floats all looked really great. I especially enjoyed the Asimo float and the Bollywood one. Like you, I also enjoy the horses.

I missed it this year because I was working all day. I, normally, try to watch it every year - I love to see all the beautiful floats and like to see what they will come up with next!
When I was younger, it was a tradition to go and watch it live in Pasadena with my bestfriend and her family. Seeing them live is so much better than seeing them on TV. If you've never been, it's worth it to buy grandstand tickets and go with a group at least once.
So which float was your favorite this year?

No, I didn't watch this on TV. I used to tune in all the time but now I've lost interest. of course it's nice to watch, but only in person. If it's not live then I don't think it's going to be enjoyable anymore. It's true though that these parades are fun to watch and fun to be a part of.
