A Tree Fell on My House

On New Years Eve, which is also my daughters birthday, the tree in my front yard fell onto my house. The tree in the front yard has been dead for about a year. I have spent the last year trying to get the homeowners association to agree to let us take down the tree but they kept on asking for paperwork, we need to get a tree doctor to document it is dead, we needed a plot of the land from the county, we needed to submit detailed drawings of what we want to do, the list went on and on. Now the tree has fallen into the house and the homeowners association does not have a choice. We stood in our in the cold for 3 hours taking the rest of the tree down before it fell into the house also.
