Are You a Phone Person?

Do you like to use either your cell phone or landline phone? I am not a phone person so will avoid making calls as much as possible. I only use my cell if it rings when I am not home and will answer the home phone when it rings. I like short and sweet conversations. Email is my preference.

I hate phones. Cell phones are the spawn of satan. I wish Thomas Edison had been born deaf. Well, maybe not, but I really dislike the darned things. Land lines are bad enough, but mobiles really wind me up: if I'm out when you phone, I'm OUT! Aaargh!

I do like my cell but don't use it much. I like our kids to be able to find me if they need anything. Thanks for responding.

Ah, yes, that's true. I have no kids, but my partner and I make sure we carry a cell phone when we go out. That's their one redeeming quality: they're great for emergencies!

Oh no,not me. I've never liked talking on the phone and now that's it part of my job,I hate it! lol My phone is mostly my watch,my falshlight, alarm and messaging device. Also, somehow I seem to get a lot of calls from telemarketers so I rarely answer it,I mostly call people back. I prefer video chatting,as good as phone and even better!

Am glad to hear there are others who don't like the phone either. One of our kids bought us a cordless phone and I love using the speakerphone but rarely make calls. Thanks for responding.

I'm not much of a phone person but I will use it if I have to. I prefer texting over using the phone. I do enjoy talking to my partner though. Talking over the net is ok and you can say a lot but hearing her voice is just wonderful after a time when I haven't seen her in forever.

I am definitely not a phone person. i have to have one for business calls and for my dialup only. I have a cell phone also but only use it for emergencies to text my husband when he is away from home.

I have never been one to chat on the phone. I never come close to using the minutes I get each month. I do like the idea of carrying a cell in case of an emergency. Thanks for responding.

I'm thinking I would rather use my landline than cell. I USED to be hesitant to use my cell, but as I have lived in Europe for the past 6 1/2 years, cells (mobiles) are a way of life here.

For me it depends on if it's a friend calling or not, and which friend it actually is. I have one that loves to just talk about herself and not listen to anything I have to say. I end up avoiding her calls more often than not. And if it's a number I don't know or the dreaded bill collectors, my answering machine does all the talking for me. LOL

My husband hates talking on the phone, too. I hate listening to him because his side of the conversation always sounds like he's trying to get rid of the other person. I think part of it is that he can't hear very well. He's visual and he likes to see the person he's talking to. I'm just the opposite. I'd rather be on the phone and hear the person's voice. Beats getting out in the cold and going to see the person. To each their own. Many of my friends perfer the phone, some the internet. Some even like snail mail. I try to keep track of who likes what. I have one friend who perfers to keep her email free for business and doesn't like non-business email. I don't mind some jokes or stuff, but many of my friends overdo it. They forward all kinds of stuff to me and it's very extensive. I keep telling them to be selective and only send a little at a time to me. But I've got 40 emails with mostly junk from them again. My first boss was a phone person for Blue Buffalo, but I didn't have calling to Boston and everywhere he went. My second boss for the company likes the internet better, thank goodness. Now that I've been cut again to 8 hours a weekend, I certainly can't call long distance to places outside my calling plan.

I am definitely not a phone person. My cell phone is turned off most of the times, I only turn it on when I am going to use it. My phone at home rings so much, I do not want to hear a phone ringing while I am not at home. I actually cringe everytime the phone rings. I would prefer email as my mean of communication. It is my choice and it is quiet.

Hey carol! I am a phone person sometimes! It depends on my mood. It also depends on who is calling me. If it is one of my friends that lives in another state that I don't get to see then I will talk to them for awhile to see what is going on with them. If it is someone that lives closer by I might chat with them if I just need to talk. Like a little while ago I was talking to my girlfriend who lives across the street. We haven't talked for a few days and I felt like talking to her so we chatted for awhile. But, we don't talk that often either. I used to be more of a phone person but now that I spend most of my free time online I am not on the phone nearly as much.

I am strictly a cell phone person. I like having my phone in my pocket and being able to take it with me in the car and through the shopping centers. I am just now stuck on and addicted to the cell phone. I religiously keep it charged up and ready to go.

I do carry my cell phone with me everywhere and have it charged but really don't like using it. I get more calls than I actually make, on purpose..lol Thanks for responding.

Then you would not want to do the Job I do. I answer a phone for 8 hrs. a day and input the information as people need a Cab, so even though it can get tiresome, it is a necessity. Once I get home from work I use my Cell phone as needed otherwise I have gone a night and such without answering the phone as well. Personally I would rather spend a lot of the time sending Email, Texting someone, or Chatting with people/friends in person as well.

hello carolbee, I am not a phone or cellphone person. I seldom answer the phone when it rings, my kids do it. I don't even text back sometimes, unless it is necessary. I prefer talking to someone in person. Find it easier and can tell if she/he is sincere to what he/she say. Short and informative conversation is very much appreciated.

I use to be much more of a phone person when I was in school. I still like to talk on the phone but not the marathon calls that use to last hours at a time. I think that I just don't have that much time on my hands anymore. Email has become much more convient for me than picking up the phone and calling someone.

I am not a phone person at all but when I do use the phone I use it for awhile because I am usually catching up with family. Otherwise, a short sweet conversation is best for me. I don't like email correspondence either really, so I guess I'm just picky like that!

I hate having to talk on the phone. I am a good conversationalist as far as phone conversations go but I really dread the phone ringing. I would much rather email or talk in person. Cell phones in particular drive me crazy! I just really dislike the fact that everyone is able to reach you and know your whereabouts at all times. I don't like people keeping tabs on me. Sometimes I just don't feel like answering the phone and other times I am just not next to my phone when it rings. I have friends who take offense to me not answering my phone each time they call. Just because I have a cell phone does not mean that it is always in my pocket. Also, when they have the time to give me a call it's not always the most opportune time for me to pick it up and have a conversation. To me phones were important when I was a teenager but I have since grown up and have better things to do.
