Forget what you are gonna do in 2009..... What are you NOT gonna do?

There have been numerous discussions on resolutions for 2009 and I do not wish to add to the many. I am though interested to hear everyone's take on the other side of the fence here and rather than have members tell me what they are GOING to do this year as part of their resolution promises to themselves; what are you all NOT going to do in 2009? As for me, I am NOT going to drink as often. I am NOT going to get as frustrated so easily; and I am NOT going to let anything stand in my way of achieving my goal of getting my Wife and I back to Australia by the end of the year. Most importantly, I am NOT going to allow myself to believe for one second in this doom and gloom for 2009 that economists etc are predicting and will maintain a positive and optimistic mindset always. And what about you? What are you NOT gonna do in 2009?

I am not going to grow up and behave like a responsible adult. I am not going to save my best clothes for a 'special occasion'. I am not going to keep trying to 'please all of the people all of the time' because I end up pleasing no-one (least of all myself!)

A "Peter Pan" mentality for 2009 sounds like a pretty good focus to me Wizzywig! And wear your best clothes whenever you like just to please yourself I reckon. I came to grips with the fact that I can't make everyone happy all the time a while back thankfully and it has eased my stress considerably. I wish you luck in achieving the same goal. Happy 2009!

Thanks for your good wishes James! I suspect I was born with a Peter Pan mentality & I plan to hang on to it! I think its time I made up for not having had a mis-spent youth

I am NOT going to quit smoking. I am NOT going to quit drinking. I am NOT going to get married. I am NOT going to go on a diet. I am NOT going to make a million dollars on MyLot. I am NOT going to sweat the small stuff... not even the big stuff. I am NOT going to row upstream. I am NOT going to sell my stuffed owl in a yard sale. But I cannot forget what I DO want to do, even though you have requested it. The ONE thing I REALLY want to do in the coming year is pee my pants a few times from laughing so hard.

I see you have managed to embrace a hedonistic mentality for the coming year and you gotta love that! Personally I am trying to stop drinking and am succeeding so far, but smoking will have to wait I'm afraid. I'd be reluctant to part with a stuffed owl myself actually. Thins like that don't grow on trees and it does sound like an interesting conversation starter! As for the peeing your pants part, I hope I will be able to contribute in some way to that goal, let's see. It may be wise to reinforce that goal by staying the hell away from board games too by the way so you don't get your anger up! I am wondering though whether you'd be prepared to row upstream if mylot had a million dollars waiting for ya? I have worked out a rough time-line for when I will reach a million bucks on here and as long as I live until at LEAST the year 2367, I may just make it!

Wal-Mart sell friggin' stuffed owls??? It's a shame you didn't pick up several at the time zig as you could have set up a colony of sorts! (I think they call a group of owls a "knowledge of owls") I can relate to the satisfaction of smashing the vaccuum cleaner parts too. It wasn't a Dyson brabded one was it? I have come so close to smacking my own laptop before, believe me. There is a game I play that involves strategy/blowing up/shooting stuff and it takes ages to get to the final stages. If I die before the final stages I have a massive hissy fit! One of my 2009 goals is to not get so worked up over things like this but I have failed already this years so I'm gonna have to keep working on this one I think. lol. And now that you mention your own million dollar timeframes through mylot, I think I may have been a tad optimistic. Reviewing my own prediction figures, unless I invested in Gold or something along the way with my earnings, I guess I'd have to add at LEAST another 500 years!

No, it was a Hyla. I figured with 'German engineering' IT should be a damn good vacuum. Well, they call it an air cleaning system and a vacuum, and it does suck up good, hehehe, but that one nozzle... man! It was called a 'power nozzle'. It had power all right... the power to make me CRAZY!! And I can't play ANY video game without a steady stream of foul language issuing forth from my dainty delicate lips. Hahahahha... yeah, I think another 500 years added to your original estimate is wise.

What a wonderful thing to commit to mimpi! I never mentioned the same but I shall NOT stop panda spanking myself either. NEVER! Oh and I get frustrated, believe me. You have no idea. And yes, I am trying not to drink at all, but might do so once in a while. I would have drinks every weekend but now I will not be. As for the smoking, guilty as charged I'm afraid! One step at a time yah! Thanks for the comments and spank on!

Oh, I am sure you will make it! Blessings! Well, I am not going to drink too much coca colar;I am not going to make others getting that jealous of me.Ok, let me get to the point! I am not going to forget my dreams! I just checked your profile in order to find some interesting discussions! Oops, there was a pic of yours there, amazing! You look so gorgesous! Thus, don't worry, sir. You will get a princess, which is just a snap! To be honest, it is sort of applepolish, lol! I don't know weather a westerner looks good, fair or...It is just that I can only evaluate Chinese, Japanese, Korea and Southeast Asian people! Anyway, you are a great person!

Thank you for the compliments hiddenwing! You are a wonderful person yourself. I already have my Princess by the way and she's Asian herself, so comes under your evaluation criteria! lol. We have been together for a number of years now, married for two and I couldn't be happier! Good luck with not drinking Coca-Cola, because that stuff IS pretty bad unfortunately. And never, ever forget your dreams because these are where all our positive realities start from! Thanks for the response hiddenwing.

I do know of Hugh Jackman, yes. He was actually voted as "The Sexiest Man Alive" in 2008, so I think his handsome tag is well deserved! I've seen this movie too and I'm not sure if I liked it or not! lol. It was certainly a long movie, that's for sure. And never worry about your English, hiddenwing! I can understand you perfectly well and that's what matters. And for the record, if you asked a panda about another panda, the first thing he'd want to know is if the other panda's getting any of his bamboo! If the answer's yes, then he ain't gonna be happy about it!

Oh, sorry, my English is very bad! So, I just misunderstood some stences! So, what does that mean? Oops, I can't remember the stence though! You know, there was a movie called Australia, which hit the theather like a speeding train about a month ago! When we watched the movie, some people screamed that how handsome the main actor was ! Well, his name is Hugh Jackman! Do you know that guy? I couldn't help wondering at the time! Is he handsome or not? I really don't know about that! For example, if you asked a panda how is the dog looking, the panada might tell you that I don't know about that! On the other hand, if you asked a panda about another panda, the panda would konw it! Haha, maybe the metaphor is not so appropriate! Never mind! You know, I am far from that talented like you! Thus, I can't make a good sentence! Anyway, I guess you are very handsome!

I am NOT going to let someone else's bad mood ruin my good attitude. I am NOT going to say I can't when I know I can. I am NOT going to feel badly if something I try to do does not succeed, at least I tried. I am NOT going to let my friends with talent let it lie dormant another year. I am NOT going to doubt myself or my own talents. I am NOT going to be a grouch. And, I am NOT going to leave this place.

Each and every one of those "NOT" goals are very valid Bo and I am sure you will achieve them all! It's all about attitude and self belief and once you have this aspect imbedded within, then nothing or no-one's gonna stop you! The worst thing any of us can do is become complacent or full of self doubt. Nothing ventured, nothing gained is the order of the year and we should all go for it! Thanks for sharing these ones as I may embrace some of 'em myself I think.

For 2009: I am NOT going to get a bluetooth. Might as well take a year to live by principle. I am NOT going to give in to tailgaters. I am NOT going to change lanes or go faster and speed some more. I am NOT going to let myself be confused with people using double negatives all the time. I DON'T NOT supposed it will be too hard to understand. I am NOT going to get annoyed by people saying "Like" every other word and then find myself doing the same thing. I am NOT going to let this discussion delay me from starting my day today.

Good plans SaintAnne! I am not going for a bluetooth either and will try to keep all of mine as white as possible for the entire year. And those people that ain't got no time to watch their use of double negatives really do need to work on their vocabularies in my opinion. I hope this response didn't delay your day either otherwise your point of not spedding may have to be ignored just one more time! Happy New Year to you and have a good day at work.

I'm not to fond of resolutions either, I think setting small goals throughout the year is much more fullfilling and it keeps you motivated to have small victories every now and then. Also, if you fail it's only a minor setback instead of your whole resolution blowing up in your face. If we are talking what I am NOT going to do: - I am not going to be frustrated easily - I am not going to get a big loan for my college (but instead pay for it myself through part time work/part time studies) - I am not going to spend less time with my friends - I am not allowing myself to let people cross my boundaries
@cyberfluf (4996)
• Netherlands
6 Jan 09
Better yet, James, DO cross my boundaries every now and then and give me a chance to tell you not to in a good but sturdy manner so I can learn how to keep my boundaries. It's better to practice this with people who do not intentionally want to cross your boundaries and can take the feedback . By the way, I made a comment in the 'grilled cheese sandwich' topic in the interest of panda spanking that you might enjoy!

But yes one does take care about not falling in the same pits again and again.. Sigh.... AS for the year ahead .. *I'll try not to fall in any fights with my parents. *Will NOT overeat during my break fast ..in fact I will not overeat ever!! *And at last like always I will NOT go INSANE while trying to make my life little more normal.. like others.. What I am not going to do is try and live to far in the future or try and live in the past. I actually do NOT know what I am not going to do or what I plan to do either one until the day gets there because well I can only live one day at a time so I am not going to worry about doing anything until the moment comes when a decision to do or not do must be made.

Take care of each day, and the weeks, months and years will take care of themselves! The past is gone and all we can do is learn from it, but SOME future planning is of course important. As long as our feet are planted firmly on the ground at all times and our future goals are realistic, then we have a solid chance of success. Being able to reduce worry on a day to day basis is a very positive goal also and will help to achieve many goals because we will be more focused on them rather than negatves. Thanks for your comments Celanith and I wish you a Happy New Year.

It's not boring ammie as we each have our own goals and of course they will be unique in every instance! These look like pretty good plans to me; especially not being sad. I would like to not go to bed so late either, but I have always been a late sleeper so I doubt this will change for me. Maybe you can use that extra time you gain from not using Orkut and use it here instead! lol. Good luck with all of your goals and thank you for the response.
