I remember back then when I was in paid employment. In my first job I worked for about 2 years and a few months before getting a promotion, my second promotion in another job took me about 4 years but believe me it was worth the time as I was really well prepared for the post when the promotion came. there is this acquaintance of mine who has been on the same post for over six years now and never got a promotion and when he gets a raise it has never been anything significant considering the rate at which costs are risng, now he has become so demotivated that he does not value the job again, he complains so much and the worst of his complaint is that he feels he is under utilized in his present post .Tell me what can he do to make a change, do you think he should switch jobs ?

Hi BYOLA, It is hard to stay in a job and the person isn't motivated anymore, it will greatly affect his performance and relationship with his co-workers. The best thing I guess is to think positive and be thankful having a stable job and love it and who knows sooner he will be promoted in a position he desired!

werll when you look at it from this angle it may seem so easy but the truth is six years is indedd a long time not to get a promotion or a significant raise in salary,i wish i have a job i could give him at least to keep him motivated

anyway, i agree with you that it might be easy for me since I am not in the situation! I just think shallow here and didn't put myself in her or his shoe! Thanks for waking me up!

I believe I would consider switching jobs if I was in that situation. They will never better themselves if they don't.
