Really bad day at work

Sometimes I really do not like teenagers. They are so rude and annoying. I just had one of the worst experiences at work and I thought I'd share it with everyone. I work in my aunt's bakery and we just happen to be located in the local mall. I was working the the afternoon shift and it was a really slow day. Everything was going fine until a group of teenagers showed up. It was only these two boys at first. They bought some green tea and went to sit at a table. I was in the back washing trays and then all the sudden I hear my bell being rung multiple times. The girl that was ringing the bell was being very annoying. She kept on ringing it even after I asked her nicely to stop. And then she was giving me an attitude and demanding a refund for the tea that one of the guys bought earlier. She kept on trying to shove the hot tea in my face and telling me to taste it because it tasted like "sh*t". I told her I couldn't give her the refund because she wasn't the one who bought the tea in the first place. She got really mad and started cussing me out. I think she called me a "fat b**tch" and all these other things. Let's just say I was getting pissed off too. Luckily a friend of mine who also works in the mall showed up and I told her to call security. I think the girl thought we weren't going to do it because she turned around and tried to shove the tea in my friend's face. The girl wasn't laughing later when security did show up after a bit. She had to be chased out and told not to come back. But I have to say that this is one of the worst experiences I've had yet. I've been working at the place for two years now and this is the first time something like this has happened to me. Usually my customers are really nice people. All I can say is that I'm going to refuse service to this girl the next time she comes to the shop. There's no way I'm being polite to her after all this. I'm really upset. Has anyone else dealt with something like this? What is up with some of today's kids? They're so impolite and rude.

Gosh when I think of all the times back in the day and I worked with the public, the crap I went through, it just really sucked, but I did learn how to deal with it and I learned how to read people and deal with them, and in the end it can be really fun to get the last word in, whether they know it or not lol. And I had more problems with the adults ot the kids, so go figure.. they can be worse than the kids sometimes.

Haha...I know what you mean. And yes, I have dealt with parents that were worst than their kids before. It's not pleasant. I'm pretty much used to it now so things like this no longer phase me. Anyways, thanks for responding.

I know what you mean that is why I dont like working at night time at my work since thats when most of the teenagers work. And i just dont get along with teenagers anymore I get along with older people who are more mature and not annoying immature teens.

Thanks for the response arcidy. I actually don't mind working in the evenings. I do get a bunch of regulars, both old and young, and they are very nice. It was just that girl and her little group that gave me problems. Lumping her in with the other teenagers I've met wouldn't be fair to them.

It is learned behavior, more than likely from another kid or some adult, maybe even a parent. I see this type of behavior all too often in the city I live in; believe it or not, it is usually the adults pulling such stunts. They come into businesses here and eat, ride, whatever, and then demand their money back (loudly) when they are ready to go home. I have seen three businesses go under largely due to dishonest patrons. The bigger the scene, the more likely they get what they want. I work in a hotel and I have had customers use the rooms and come back demanding all of their money back. They makeup all sorts of things to get a refund. I have developed a kind of thick skin and am able to look them straight in the eye and say NO. I am the person least likely to be intimidated so they often just go away without a fight. I do compensate for real issues, just want to make that clear. LOL If they see that they are getting under your skin they will keep picking at you like a bunch of chickens. You did the right thing by reporting that young lady instead of rewarding her bad behavior with free money. Take a stand but do not risk your life; and be thankful you do not live here.

Thanks for responding. I was also surprised that I was able to deal with the situation so smoothly. I guess you just have to bite your tongue in these kind of situations and it felt so great to tell her NO! I didn't care how much of a ruckus she was causing, there was no way I was giving her any money.

I know that. It's just that it was the first time at that particular job so I was kind of surprised by it. I can understand if I was rude to the person but that wasn't even the case. Gahh....it makes me so mad thinking about it. But thank you for responding.
