This is the second time in two years that we've crossed Hoover Dam on our way to or from Arizona. Both times we sat in traffic at least an hour before we crossed. Last time we saw that they were building a bypass road with a huge bridge over the gorge. I assume that ultimately there won't be any traffic over the dam at all, although I'm sure you will still be able to visit. This is due to 9/11, no doubt. Anyway here is a picture of the backside of the dam from the Arizona side.

They've managed to fix some of the traffic problems up here in Sacramento but in LA it's always jammed. Just too many cars...

Well, I've only been over the Dam once, and I sure can see why its a big ol' traffic jam, going from 4 lanes down to 2 very narrow ones! Mom and I were driving up to the dam, going 75 and people were FLYING by us! Some of them had to be doing 90! It didn't help when we went they were also filming that Family Vacation movie there on the dam that day!

It will be nice (traffic-wise) when they get the new road finished!
