They make movies based on video games. An example is Tomb Raider. Now, they are making video games based on movies. Like the new one based on the movie WANTED. Are movies based on games better? Or do prefer the movie first approach?

I don't think it matters. What matters is whether the game is well made, well thought out. Probably though a game based on a movie is going to get popular more quickly because people are familiar with the name.

Well, thats a part of the problem. The other part is that almost all those games are bad. Most people who have been gaming for a while know that there really aren't that many good games based on movies. Well, so far only 2 games come to my mind. Ok, there might be people who buy those games because they have something to do with the movies, but chances are that they are casual gamers. Thats not bad, but the problem is that while people continue to buy those bad movie games that the developers simply don't have any reason to change the way they make the games because they keep selling. But they might actually start to consider to make them better if nobody would buy them. Well, it depends on what kind of person you are. There are people who buy those games, there are people who simply don't want to waste their money on those games knowing that there are better games that they can get for their money and there are people who simply don't care for games at all. I am obviously a person who doesn't like games based on movies. I know that you can play those games. But I simply know that there are way better games out there so its obvious for me which games to buy and movie based games are a big "No,no" for me. :/

I agree with Takashy here. Only a few games turn out well in movies. Because the storyline in games (since they were initially done for games) aren't crafted for movies.

I really wouldn't know. However, both have their own place. A movie based on a game or a game based on the movie benefits from having the audience already aware of the setting. This allows the player or movie goer to be engaged in the setting with less 'explanation' or 'learning time.'

Well the movies would get you excited about the games, I would think I would rather the movies came first. So I would know a little more and what to expect.

None. It simply doesn't work one way or the other. Almost all games based on movies are simply bad or even terrible. Well, ok, I might take back what I said first. There are some game based movies that I thought were alright but I haven't seen any movie based on a game that would have shocked me in a good way. But there are many really bad game based movies... Games have huge problems with game based movies and as a gamer myself I have to agree with that. There really aren't that many great game based movies. But if I were forced to chose from, I would probably have to go with the movies. There are games based on movies but most gamers know that they should stay away from them unless they feel like wasting their hard earned money on bad games.

I don't want to comment on that matter. What matters to me is that, they give us good story and graphics.
