Eating that with that?

We had Christmas dinner at Richard's sister's place. Tamales were served. We're at the table and my brother-in-law Duane says, "you have to try this." So he plops some cottage cheese on his plate, says "don't forget the season salt," and proceeds to eat that with the tamales. It was GOOD. Highly recommended. Has anybody else tried that before? Or any other unusual food combinations that turned out to be great?

Excellent combo there. I love sour cream on my mexican food but if I don't have any cottage cheese will do nicely! One of the strange combinations I love is a creamy peanut butter sandwich dipped in chilli. Leave off the jelly though! Ewww.

Gosh, you named things I can't (or won't) eat. Tamales and seasoned salt are things I can't eat and I won't eat cottage cheese.

Oh well. There isn't much I won't eat unless it's either brussels sprouts or moving. Heck even the brussels sprouts I will eat if I have to...

I have not tried that combination...but there are several things I do like....When I have a chimi I like it with thousand island dressing on it mixed in with the mushroom gravy.....or chocolate cake covered in apple sauce...Both I would recommend!

It seems that he would be doing that so as not to offend me, but I think he's just trying to avoid the commentary I give him about it.

tamales - . Hot Damn Tamales has a great variety of tamales including 5 meat and 4 vegetarian options.
Tamales is a traditional indigenous Latin American food consisting of steam-cooked corn dough with or without a filling. I have made some research about tamales because I have never heard the word. It seems that they are some kind like wraps with vegetable or meat fillings. We have something similar here but they are not called by that word. A mexican meat thing wrapped in a kind of corn batter. In California, you can't escape Mexican food. And I wouldn't want to!

That sounds really good. It is great when we try foods together that are really nice. My hubby experiments with everything. I do not like mayonaise but I love it with sweetcorn. I love corned beef with marmite and onions. It is really good to get tips from other people as it is nice to have new food combinations to eat, as sometimes you get fed up with the same ones.

Yeah I like to try things once. I always give it ago. Living with my hubby I get quite a lot of them, but sometimes they are good. He made bacon the other day with fried onions in a sandwhich and it was lovely. I would never of made this.

That is an interesting combination. Funny how you look at it and say no way and your mouth is doing the happy dance. I like wild green onion dip on my hamburgers. Another fav is putting maple syrup on my cottage cheese.
