Ann Coulter Trashes Michelle Obama

Well, she's at it again. Anne Coulter was quoted on this morning's news as saying that Michelle Obama was coming off like Jackie Kennedy in a halloween costume. I think she's just showing her tacky side again. I know a lot of Mylotters will say that if it was alright to knock Sarah Palin, it's okay to knock Mrs. Obama. I disagree. Michelle Obama is not the candidate. Our first ladies have a difficult enough time filling the largely undefined role that comes with their husbands victory. They get no training and pretty much have to carve out their own niche. I think most of them manage quite well considering what a rough town Washington DC can be. No matter how much I disagreed with George Bush, I always liked and respected Laura Bush. I'm not too worried about Coulter's latest diatribe because I think she will live to regret it. One good media write-up for a nice ballgown and Michelle is the winner here. Of course Ms Coulter will blame that victory on the liberal media. But it will be nobody's fault but her own. She just won't get that every catty little cause has an effect and in this case she is likely to wish her jaw was permanently wired shut. Okay, I'm finished sounding off. What do you think?

I respect and honor Michelle Obama. She has intellect, poise, credibility and an inate ability to be a successful first lady (and beyond!). We give Ann Coulter way too much of our attention. I mean really who is she but a vindictive, unaccomplished author who in order to promote her book gives it away. More attention to those who deserve it. Great question, thanks for posting it. Michelle Obama rocks and if we think Hillary Clinton was successful after her 8 years as first lady wait until Michelle is done with her 8 years - it is exciting!!

Do people still listen to the Coultergeist? That's kind of funny. I write off most neo-con maroons like herself as idiots with nothing intelligent to say. Of course she'll blame the "liberal media" for any backlash for what she said. Neo-cons can do no wrong, and liberals are tearing the country apart, haven't you heard? I think anyone in the political sphere is fair game. However, if you're going to attack a political figure, it should be on their merits, not their dress. Coulter is just butt hurt over the fact that Obama won, so she's doing her part in being a pain towards the new administration. Get used to it, because we're up for four more years old childish poo slinging.

Right. But I just see this one backfiring on her. I think it was not a smart move and this time she let a little too much of the cat claws show. Even the commentator asked her if her remarks were not a little out of line. Of course she replied "absolutely not" but seemed a little surprised by his reaction.

Why bother worrying about what Ann Coulter says? Frankly, that's pretty tame compared to her usual talk. Forget Sarah Palin for now, where were you when the liberals on this bored were insulting Cindy McCain? It was pretty disgusting when people right here on mylot were insulting her and saying her face looked like a plastic surgery nightmare. I'll have to dig up that thread to show you. I think even people like Anniepa, who are usually tamer than that, were part of the insults.

As I stated in the discussion, I don't think First Ladies are fair game and that includes potential first ladies such as Cindy McCain. I'm not responsible for what other liberals do or for what conservatives do. I just have my limits and my opinions which I'm expressing in this thread. I really don't think it's fair for you to throw what liberals have said on here in the past in my face unless I was one of them and when it comes to trashing first ladies, I definitely was not one of them.

Taskr, this is a cheap shot, I hadn't even posted to this discussion yet. I honestly don't recall any insults like that toward Cindy McCain. I'll also have to look it up but I don't remember anything like that coming from me. Annie

That's because George Stephenopaulos is expected to have some degree of integrity and decency. Ann Coulter is not. Everyone knows who she is and what she does so I don't see how anyone can be surprised or get worked up over something that is tame compared to her usual rhetoric.

I think you are absolutely right!Darn that Ann Coulter! When is she going to learn to just shut up, sit down and keep her freaking mouth shut and keep her opinions to herself. When is she going to learn to fall and line and stop speaking her mind? After all - heaven forbid someone*gasp* offend someone or hurt some one's feelings. Heaven forbid someone say what's on their mind and have an opinion about someone or something. We wouldn't want that now would we? (I am of course being sarcastic.) My question is why is it okay for liberals to bash republicains but it's not okay for republicans to say ANYTHING about a liberal? If I remember correctly I heard a fair share of bashing about Cindy McCain. But that was okay right? Cause Cindy McCain was a conservative.

Ann Coulter is allegedly a political commentator and catty remarks about Michelle Obama's manner of dress are not political commentary. I'll say it again: If George Stephenapaulos said what Ann Coulter did yesterday, he would have been fired yesterday. Coulter's crime isn't so much offending people or being catty. It's passing herself off as a political commentator. As long as she does that she should be held to the same standard as the rest of them or she should be fired.

What are the rules of political commentators? Well, I doubt they have been codified but certainly we can expect a political commentator to make polictical comments. Trashing the way someone dresses is hardly political commentary. As far as Ms Coulter's employment is concerned, I beg to differ with you. Although she may not hold down a permanent job in the genre (small wonder), she has done a number of paid gigs for different networks. Since the moderaters always referred to her as a political commentator, I assumed that was what she was supposed to be. At least what she was passing herself off as.

Who is she working for that CAN fire her? No one. That's the difference between George and Ann. Ann isn't employed by anyone. Where George is 'suppose' to be like an impartial moderator. So what what are the rules of political commentators? I wasn't aware that there were any, I mean this being a free country and all. Also, should Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh just shut their pie holes as well because they may something offensive or hurt some one's feelings? Are they considered political commentators? I guess I just don't see what the deal is to be or not be a political commenter has to do with anything. If you have something to say you should be able to say it. Unless your are employed by someone, like George. In that case maybe George should quit his day job, write a book and start speaking his mind.

I personally really like Michelle Obama. I think that as a first lady she is going to make a great role model. I didn't like Hiliary Clinton much but it still really irritate me when the news media, people in general would criticize or make fun of her because of her looks, her hair cut, her pant suits. It was just asinine. It says a lot more about the source than it does about the person they are criticizing.

Dollar Coulter? - Anne Coulter is after the dollar? Or she could be a simple racist?
Anne Coulter is after the dollar, I don't think she even looked at Michelle Obama! Then again, who knows, she could be a simple racist, such animals are out there. Michelle is black, and the first black first lady of the white house so she is facing a unique situation.

Oh, and Ann Coulter has NEVER said anything about a white liberal in the past right? ha ha ha. Now we all know that's not true. However, now that she has *gasp* said something about a black lady, she's a racist. She should be ashamed of herself!

Damn, damn DAMN!! You mean she's unwired again? I was hoping it would be for at least another month or two...or six or twelve...lol! I think you're right, this one just might come back and bite the b1tch. I agree, our First Ladies have it hard enough to begin with without a classless jerk like her spewing her hatred and over her appearance yet. I can't believe there are people who like Coultergeist and even spend their hard-earned money to buy her hate-filled books. Nobody is off-limits to her. Speaking of her blaming the liberal media, she hates it so bad but she doesn't mind going on their shows to promote her books, does she? I wish everyone would refuse to have her appear! Maybe I'll start a boycott campaign. I'll write to all the producers and sponsors of the network and cable stations and threaten to boycott all their shows and products if they have her on the air. Ann will be Ann no matter what. At least she's consistent and hates everyone equally. She picked on Hillary so why not Michelle? People picked on Todd Palin so I say Michelle is fair game.

I'll give Ann consistency. Still, I disagree that the spouses are fair game unless of course we are talking about Bill. He's a walking target range but it's okay cause he's also a politician. Michelle Obama and Todd Palin are not. Although I think Todd Palin made himself fair game when he started giving autographs. (I will admit that I might be on shakey ground with that thinking. I might even be a little bit sexist since guys don't have to go along with the program as much as women do. LOL ) But I just don't think Michelle Obama, Cindy McCain, Laura Bush or any other first lady or potential first lady is fair game for Coulter's cattiness. She's supposed to be a political commentator not a waspy fashionista.

Well, the Kennedy analogy has come up in other places albeit favorable and more like the whole Obama family being a rebirth of the Kennedys. Anyhow, as to being fair game.. since you brought up Sarah Palin, her whole family was fair game, and still apparently is. In this case, yes the comments were over the top and IMO bad taste. Still Michelle Obama is fair game. She went along with her husband's political career and knew what she was getting herself into. Why else do you think most politicians are on wife number 2 or 3? Not every woman enjoys it, fits the bill, will go along. The Presidency is in essence a package deal. She, too, will be representing the country. Thus far she has done a good job though. Always well dressed, no misstep. I don't think we can really compare her to Jackie Kennedy other than maybe that they are close in age when the husband became president and that a young family will be in the White House. Otherwise they are different types of women, who both just happen to look good, dress well and behave well.

I think it sounds like a lot of hate and anger from within side her that is mad that Obama is president and now she has someone to take it out on. I don't like Barack or Michelle personally, but to stand united our country voted these people in and now we have to suck it up and stand by them so that they can try to be the best that they can.

I didn't see this morning's news, so didn't hear the quote. However, this is typical of Ann Coulter. If I were Michelle Obama, I'm not sure I'd want to be compared to Jackie Kennedy or anyone else for that matter. She needs to be seen for who she is and not have to try to live up to someone else's (what would you call it?) character, standards, or whatever anyone else thinks a first lady should be. If she is gracious even in difficult situations, if she treads everyone, even the lowest servant on the White House staff with respect, and if she's a supportive wife to her husband and hands on mother to her children, training them to be polite and respectful, she'll be a winner no matter what anyone thinks of her or her husband.

I think if Michelle Obama starts dressing better, Ann Coulter will take credit for it. Coulter isn't going to be bothered by the medias bowing and scraping over any of the Obamas. She'll be expecting it.

Ann Coulter has made and will continue to make money on her mouth because she's into everyone's business. It's the kind of stuff that riles everyone up or starts people pointing fingers. She a glorified pot stirrer and will remain so until the public has had enough and takes her off her own self made pedistal. I think her tactics are that of the National Enquirer. On second though maybe she should go work for E News.
