Macys is closing 11 of their stores. Stores slated to close include locations in Los Angeles, West Palm Beach, Fla., Nashville, Tenn., and St. Louis, among others. Clearance sales at the stores begin next week. You may be able to find some good deals! I am always on the lookout. Do you look through stores during closing sales? Have you found anything good? http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Macys-will-shutter-11-stores-apf-14002867.html

I did not know they were closing, but then again I have never been in a Macy's before. I don't normally even bother walking into the more expensive stores.

Oh, and to answer your question. I sometimes go to stores when they are closing and everything is cheaper. It all depends on what store it is and how crazy busy they are.

There is a Macy's near to our house. It is in a mall which is already having problems. The demographic of the surrounding area changed and store owners started complaining about light fingered patrons. There were fights and the like too, as I recall. Now more and more stores have closed. If the Macys there closes too, then only JCPenny's remains as the big supermarket store. I think the mall with tank if that happens.

To bad they aren't a Macy's close by that is closing down, I would like to just see what they have since I have never shopped there before or been close to one. I am always taking advantage of sales like that you can get some great deals like that and maybe some early birthday, anniversary or even Christmas gifts.

I had no idea Macy's was closing some of their stores. I did hear of them planning to do this (or did they actually do this?) some years ago, but didn't pay much attention to it then. With the economy the way it is, I'm not surprised that they are closing. I know Mervyn's closed there doors, at least around here, and they've been around for what seems like forever. Although I'm not into shopping (sounds strange coming from a woman, doesn't it? LOL) I'm all for super sales, but in these hard times I don't see how anyone can take advantage of it (unless they are rich, that is).

Was Macy's always based out of Cincinnati? We only got them here a few years ago after they bought out Lazarus. I looked at the story to see if they were closing the one here, but if the company is staying open as a whole, it doesn't seem likely that they will close the stores in the same city that they are based out of. I would like to at least browse through one of the stores that is closing, because I know that the prices otherwise in Macy's are too rich for my blood.
