Red Dye Allergy

So my son has been sick for like two weeks or so. Started out with throwing up, moved to a fever and rash then he got a runny/stuffy nose. He was put on antibotics and we started to get better but the rash and runny/stuffy nose never cleared up. So we took him back to the doctor and he seems to think it's an allergic reaction to something, possibly red dye. I guess I am dumb because I had never heard of this before. And now, I am freaking out! My husband was the one that took our son to the doctor yesterday so I wasn't there to ask questions, but I thought it was literally like red dye - like shirts and clothes and such - not food! Anyone familiar with this???? We aren't 100% sure he has this allergy but we want to try to see if that is infact it but trying to elminate one thing at a time. Advice?? Suggestions?? Our son is 2 and a half.

I would personally take him off all processed foods with dyes. Keep him on an organic diet and see how he does. Red dye and yellow dye allergies are very common. They are easily avoided with organic foods. Good luck to you. Anora
