Well at least it is to me. For years I have been looking for a crochet pattern that I had at one time. Now I know this probably should have been posted under a different category but the one it matched doesn't get a lot of exposure and I really need help with this.
In December, 1981, McCall's Magazine published a crochet pattern for a family of stuffed bears. I made these bears for all my children and even for some of my neighbors kids and they loved them. It gave me great pleasure to give something I had made with my own two hands to the children in my life and to see there eyes light up when they received them. Now I would like to make them for my grandkids but I have lost half of the pattern.
As most of you know McCall's is no longer being published and even if it was their archives probably wouldn't go back that far. I have done every kind of search I can think of to try to track down this pattern and have not succeeded.
I am uploading a picture of one of the bears I made from the pattern for my youngest daughter, who is in the picture with the bear. She is 25 years old now.
If any of my mylot friends out their in cyber space remembers this pattern and still has a copy of it You would make me and my grandkids very happy by sharing it with me.
Even if you do not crochet, maybe you just collect magazines and might have a copy of that particular issue. A scanned image is all I need of this pattern.
If anyone has it and is willing to share it with me please respond and we sill figure out how to do it later.

Hey, that worked. Thanks. I'm going to upload a better photo now that you taught me how. I thought that maybe it wasn't uploading because I was using a photo instead of a digital so I took this picture of the picture with my digital camera. Now I am going to try to upload the one I had cropped.

I'm looking for my books now. We had a flood a couple years ago and hubby told me he thinks my books were tossed out but I want to know for sure so I'm on the look.

I have four old McCall books. I don't suppose I'd be lucky enough to find your pattern but I will dig the books out later today when I get to them and what a good feeling that would give me if I was able to help. Thanks for the post.

There's a distinct possibility that it is in there even though it didn't mention it specifically. I seem to remember a couple of the other patterns that it did mention as being in the same issue. Anyway I am going to order it so I can see. Even if the pattern I am looking for isn't in there it will still be worth the price because some of those other patterns look pretty interesting, too. Thanks for looking this up for me.

Thank you for those kind words. I did so enjoy making this bear and it kind of became my trade mark. I was heartbroken when I couldn't find my pattern. I think I've got a lead on it from one of my friends here, so maybe I will be able to make it again.

Hello Savak I hunted for sometime for the pic of the bear and finally "discoverd" it among the responses...Its really huge...and makes me wonder how I missed it the first time....
..Its really beautiful and so much bigger than your daughter and I am sure you have really spent time and effort and lovingly made it .But I am afraid I will not be able to help you in hunting for the pattern and can only wish you good luck and hope you will ultimately find it.......Good luck ...

This was the first time I tried to upload a picture on mylot and it didn't work. I think I know what I did wrong though so I am going to try again but I had to wait for someone to respond so I could. Thanks for that and for looking through your McCalls books.

Hopefully the magazine you ordered has it. It is so cool you are passing this "tradition" of sorts to your grandkids. I never had the patience for crocheting as tightly as is needed for stuffed items - it hurts the back of my hands too much. I hope you post some pics when you get finished.
