As some of you might know, I am not a religious person, but I've always loved to study the Bible. My very first birthday present from my great-uncle who helped to raise me was a New Testament. I really loved that little Bible. I just began taking a Bible study course which I got from a reliable source and I felt that it was time I refreshed my knowledge of the Bible. Have you ever taken a Bible study course? This is my second time doing this since I stopped attending church many years ago. I've always felt that the Bible holds all the answers to life's questions if we study it. What are your feelings on this?

Dear worldwise1, good to know that you are taking Bible Study course. You see there are some theologically trained people who get to know the Scripture well than others. Do tell me where you are doing? Is it online course. But pls go for church because you need to have fellowship with christians which is most essential.

If you would like to know which course I am studying, jonesrichard, you can PM me. And, yes, you can take it online, but I am doing mine by mail. I have had many years of fellowship with other Christians, but have not found a church in recent years that meets with my approval.

If you lived near me, I'd totally invite you to my church. It's small, but it's amazing.

I am a fairly religious person but do not know a whole lot about the Bible. I like to hear someone speak the word to me to where I can understand it. I do not understand it when I read it.

I think it's easier for me to understand, stephcjh, because I was schooled in the teachings of the Bible from a very early age. Most of what I learned was from Bible Study at church which thereby gave me the confidence to increase my knowledge of the Bible on my own. Of course, in a formal study you are equipped with the proper tools and information to help you in your efforts.

This attitude is terrible. Anyone who loves God should study the Bible. It's true that many meanings and contexts are complicated, but all Christians can get something out of reading the Bible. So we all should take it on ourselves, instead of just trusting every little thing the preacher says. ~Jesus loves you and I do too~

GOD has all of the answers for life. The Bible is GOD's instruction book for living our life. By reading the bible you can gain a deeper love for GOD and a deeper understanding of the things that GOD wants for you to do in life. Please read maybe a capter of the Bible every day and give thought to the things that you read in the Bible.

I have been reading the Bible since childhood, albert, and I hope to be reading it for a long time to come.I do try and read something from it on a daily basis, but I occasionally let other things get in my way.

We had religion classes in the Jesuit school that I attended and this included studying the bible. I did read the bible for inspiration and wisdom but I don't really like the idea of bible study where interpretations are foisted on people. Cheers!!

That's the beauty of studying the Bible, underdogtoo, you come to your own conclusions according to what you are reading. The more you study the Word, the greater your understanding will become.

I love group Bible studies, but I also love personal Bible study. I think they are both very important. Why do you read the Bible if you aren't religious? Do you believe what it says or not? Just curious. ~Jesus loves you and I do too~

I am not in the least bit religious and to be truthful I have never read the entire bible. I just can't seem to make myself. I have never been to bible study either, I would like to say that I admire the fact that you would do so without being religious.

It has been a lifelong pursuit for me, CRIVAS, and I don't do it for any other reason than for my own personal enlightenment and enjoyment. I don't think a person has to be religious to seek the knowledge that is in the Bible.
