My husband will be unable to drive anymore, vacations are off or are they

We used to take a drive to Saskatoon from Winnipeg, and then there was the trip to Vancouver, Edmonton, and to Alaska. But I guess with me not having a license (did not make enough money while I worked to get one, let alone a car( and not my husband not renewing his license because of his stroke and his severe arthritis, he is unable to have the strength to operate even an automatic shift, things are going to look a little different. Now when I lived in Vancouver as a young girl and later on up until my twenties, I could get a Greyhound and go to different places, but you see, I did not have the snow to contend with the freezing rain, and now it looks a bit more expensive. OUr bus service here is not the best. And we do not like paying an arm and a leg for a taxi to the grey hound bus and my husband cannot take a walker on the bus and we cannot depend on going with one of our sons when they go on vacation, so I was wondering how do you all manage if one of you or both is disabled? Do you get the Bunny Bus to pick you up at the door or do you take a taxi when you decide to go on a trip outside the city or town, or do you go with one of the children when they go on vacation? You know the idea of staying in Winnipeg 52 weeks in a year except for the rare time there is a mass concert, is rather depressing.

He does. I think the bunny bus will be able to drive us to the airport, but since I am not disabled, I wonder whether they will let me go along. I am the caregiver.

I am so sorry that I cannot help you with this one as I do not live in the USA. But I am hopeful that one of your friends will come up with a solution. qustion: Is it too late for you to learn to drive? I was 47 before I got my licence. You would get depressed staying in your home for every year and not going anywhere. Please consider this option which was made in all friendship. Blessings

I live in Canada. I would not mind learning to drive, but that entails me buying a car and even a second hand, plus the license fees are too much. Oh and I doubt they will give me one when I am going to be 66 next month. I wish I had had the money when I was younger to get one. There were quite a number of good job opportunities I missed because I did not have a car for transportation.

do not give up hope about taking a vacation. someone here at Mylot is going to lead you to the information. six months of winter is not nice! Keeps you indoors too which is not good as we all need to get out of the house. Take care of yourself re diabetes. It cna be kept under control but you have to be vigilent and keep yo rblood sugar on an even keel. My husband lived with it for 18 years. Blessings dear friend.

I know that when we went on our cruise, there was accommodations and help for those with disabilities on the ship, and I do wish we could take another cruise. It would be so peaceful.

I'm sorry to hear that. My husband and I have not been on vacation for a very long time. We have both been working seven days a week for over a year now also to make ends meet.

I never had to work seven days a week and it is a shame that the pay rate is so low that you have to. Really we all need a rest that one day so that we can do a better job.
