Family reunions and get-togethers such as weddings or other such occassions are looked forward to with greath eagerness and enthusiasm.
The joy and thrill of catching up many family members both old and young is looked forward to with a lot of excitement as one gets to experience a variety of personality traits and behaviours some of them wisecracks, some good at pulling legs, some good story tellers, singers and some animated in thier own strange and eccentric ways. It's fun time , party time and it's time to have a blast.
How much do you look forward to such occassions ? Share some of your stories and experiences.

I think, the festivals and occasions like weddings, anniversaries house warming parties, birthdays… kind of add spice to our monotonous lives. Get togethers are essentially meant for reunion and to strengthen the bond of family and carrying on the family traits and customs. The importance of occasions to me is this if not the religious tags attached to them. Being a reclusive person, I hardly attend any parties nowadays, may be only a few which I cannot decline. But once I become a part of it I enjoy like never before. I am not very smart with repartees, humor, jokes or cheesy tales or even singing but I enjoy every bit of that goes on there. I am a very good listener and that provides me with the ability to put the broken ends together. I make people remember the loose ends, forgotten episodes, fun happenings that took place years ago on some bizarre afternoon! So, there lies my role – indomitable and non pareil!
I am looking forward to a great time next week when my sister is getting married. She is a tom boy and we are curious to see her in wedding saree…the taunts and pranks have begun…..

It's the strengthening of the family bonds and having fun which it's all about. And being in many ways reclusive myself , i always enjoy the entertainment brought in by the other family members.
Glad to know that you have such an occassion coming up next week and the taunts, the pranks.... I'm sure you will have agood time. Tom boy ? and in a wedding saree...Seems you are going to have a whale of a time..

And you ? Have you joined in the fun ? Or will they gang up on you as well ?
I have an uncle who is in 70's now and loves occassions like this. While the elderly sit and enjoy the fun reminiscing the good old days, he joins in and starts with all the pranks. Jolly old guy , actually.

I do genealogy and love family reunions
.My husband and I used to have one every year in our state and invited people that I had just met over the internet or phone, they were distant cousin's. Another branh of our family has an annual one in the next state over. But because of the gas prices we ould not go last year.
My husband and I had do stop having ours because he got ill and we could not afford to take care of ourselves, more or less pay for a reunion.
But,they are lots of fun,I love them.

I always like family gathering. It is really full of fun and catching up. Especially to those family members who gone for long time. Meeting rlatives that are not often been seen. And rekindling the family ties.

family reunions and get-together are some of the best ways to bring happiness back in your life. Family reunions and get-together also provides emotional stability to a person. It is because of such kind of reunions the bond of family members becomes more strong. In today's world nobody has time because of busy and hectic schedule, therefore reunions and get-together are some of the best ways to re-unite family members.

I love getting together with my family. This past weekend we visited some cousins just for the fun of it! We stay pretty close with all our family and cherish all the times we spend together.

I am not an overly family orientated individual Alok, but given how long it has been since I have seen ANY member of my family, I would welcome a get together with wide open arms! After a few hours of it though, I will want to leave for sure, but still!

You are right when family members comes togather during wedding and such functions etc., it creates a great atmosphere. Everyone tries to shows his/her best costumes and attires. Everyone wants that he/she be noticed and appreciated and he/she be heard. Everyone is there to tell you his/her side of story. It is all great fun sharing and telling each other about the latest happenings. You are right, some use the occasions, to pull each other's legs and make fun. I look forward to such occasions and do not miss the same.
An excellent post!

Yes, I enjoy the occasions, because exchanging greetings and knowing about well being of others feels great. I anxiously wait for such occasions. However, I find some of the relatives reach at the eleventh hour to show their importance to show how busy they are. In that case, one cannot enjoy with later-comers.

I think family get-togethers are a ball. You get together with people that you have lost touch with. You what's going on in their life. There is always a whole table full of delicious food. The games are such fun that are played there. My brother-in-law likes to have written games. The kind that could get a person in trouble with their spouses. Sometimes I think he designs the questions so that the spouses do get in trouble. But it is good clean fun and at least while we are at the get-together no one gets upset at the other.
