Accelerated Achievement - A2

Hi everyone. We are in our fifth year of homeschooling. I would love to say that they have been great and successful years; sadly I can't. I was really struggling with pulling together cirriculum and materials on my own. I could not afford any of the curriculums I saw for sale. Well I stumbled upon the Robinson curriculum. It was out of my price range too but it seemed like it would be something that would work for us. What is different about Robinson is that it is a self teaching curriculum. It is based heavily on reading; much of it classic literature. It is similar in some ways I would say to Charlotte Mason. Well as I continued in my quest for curriculum or materials I came across Accelerated Achievement curriculum; also known as A2 curriculum. A2 is VERY much like Robinson but with some great advantages. One advantage is price; it is a fraction of Robinson's price tag. Another advantage is that it is all on one CD-Rom. Robinson is on about 20! I was blessed by the creator of A2 to get a copy as a scholarship for my children. Anyway I wondered if anyone used this (or Robinson) and if you have any tips? I am struggling with assigning work. I am too used to the public school model of learning. Thanks in advance.

I've never heard of these kinds of homeschooling methods, but then my kids aren't homeschooled. So I suppose I wouldn't know these things. lol Congrats in finding something that would work with your kids.

There are many different ways of learning. Even within the school setting; the teacher/books provide the information, it is still up to the child to learn it. So self teaching is really a natural extension of a child's desire to learn. We all have it in us. Just think of that toddler that won't stop asking why and how!

I have heard of this curriculum and have thought about ordering it. It looks very good and thorough. It also goes all the way to the 12th grade and covers a variety of subjects.

I strongly recommend it. It is a self teaching curriculum so it makes things a bit easier. VERY heavy on reading though. The price is real good too!
