Because she created an engaging and fabulous character named Harry Potter and wrote 7 books about Harry and his friends. As a reading/English teacher I can tell you that she has made more children want to read than most other authors. He books are great. There are also movies based on the first 5 books and, of course, there will be two more movies. The movies are not as good as the books. How can they be? You cannot put all the detail from books into movies! Anyway, I am a great fan of JK Rowling because she has made kids want to read.
