1. Eat a balanced healthy diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables. 2. Supplement diet with vitamin C, Garlic and antioxidants. 3. Restrict smoking. 4. Keep physically fit - do not over exercise and also not become a couch potato. 5. Wash hands properly (before and after meals). 6. In case of fever drink plenty of liquid (other then alcohol) to avoid dehydration. 7. Take fever medicines as per the prescribed dose. 8. Keep the room temperature comfortable and ensure that it is not stuffy. Open window for sufficient time for fresh air intake. 9. Wear light clothes to allow heat dissipation from the body. 10. Use tepid water for sponging. Using cold water reduces blood flow to the skin and causes shivering.
