Season 3 biggest loser winner gained it back...

Just saw online that the winner from season 3, Eric Chopin, gained back 122 pounds back after the show ended. He had lost 214 on the show. He said he fell into a depression once all the notarity from the show faded. That's really tough to see. As a fan of the show I always try and think positive for the contestants, that they are going to keep up with thier diet and exercise. But this goes to show that just losing the weight isn't enough. It has to be a lifelong commitment. The other thing that I was thinking about, was I wonder if the show does any kind of follow up support, or if once the season is over they just kind of leave you on your own? I would think it would be in thier best interest to continue to keep the past contestants on the right track.

That is really sad on Erics part. It is scary for me as I am starting a Biggest Loser challange at my local YMCA today. I plan to keep the weight off. I know if is really easy to gain 5 pounds here and 5 pounds there though so it is easy for those pounds to creep back on. I plan to keep the exercise up after the challange and not go overboard on the snacks. Wish me luck.

I do wish you the best of luck. Your experience is much different than what the Biggest Loser participants go through on campus. You are doing this outside in the real world. They are so isolated, and their experience so concentrated and intense, I am suprised we don't hear more about contestants gaining some of it back.

At least he still lost 92. That's a lot. I'm sure his body is better off for having lost the weight, even if I gained over half of it back. I, too, wish they would follow up on their old contestants. Just knowing that a camera might show up at their door might keep certain people more on the straight and narrow. That's human nature.

Actually it's very hard on the body to drop all that weight and then put it back on again. Hopefully though he will get back on the right path and get back to living a more healthy lifestyle.

Its sad to hear he gained back the weight. There is a lot of pressure to be thin in the United States. The only thing I heard is he is in a movie coming out in October 2009.

i have always wondered how many kept it up afterwards!! its sad that whatever happened let them gain the weight back.. i would say what a waste of time but maybe the winner will get back to working on his weight again and be able to use the stuff he learned on the show to help him keep it off this time.. i hope

Every once in a while they will bring back someone that has been on the show. Last season I do remember one of the trainers, Bob, talking about this guy from season 3, and that he gained it all back. Bob was trying to get it through to his group that they were there to learn and change thier life and that the money they could possibly win should not be thier primary focus. Alot of times the participants will talk about how they are there to change thier lives and learn how to be healthy. But it's hard to deal with real life and when you have a crutch, like some of us do with food, that's a hard thing to stay on course.

*sigh* that stinks, they decide to join the show they should at least commit their life to being healthy

That is so sad. i hope the show makes a follow up to the winners or even to the non winners. It is important to really make a commitment not to gain the weight they lost.
