Saliva Drug Testing...what's the deal?

Have you ever taken a saliva drug test? You know where that stick that giant awful sponge in your mouth for 3 minutes? I've heard of people passing this type of test. Some of the cheaper tests do not test for adulterants. Adulterants are chemicals that are used to deceptively alter a drug examination. Adulterants can also be added to urine to interfere with drug tests. Examples are hydrogen peroxide, bleach, vinegar or sodium bicarbonate. Does anyone have any comments on saliva drug testing? Looking forward to your response! Thanks!

It is only partially true. All labs are aware of such adulterants and it is so easy to find out what adulterant was use to alternate test. They perform spot test to detect these adulterants.

What if you had vinegar in your meal at lunch time? Vinegar is commonly mistaken for an adulterant because it changes the ph level of the saliva. What happens if you just brushed your teeth after a nice hardy meal? There are also regular mouth rinses, toothepastes, breath sprays and tongue strips on the market today. How can they detect the good from the bad? It is not uncommon to have a good dental hygiene, although, now that I think about it...I don't know that many people with teeth. (joke) Besides, they ask you if you've eaten or had a beverage in last couple of hours. So, how far back can they tell? What factors are involved? Thanks for your response!

Laboratory is as smart as people who think they can alternate tests. They know how to find out....

I have no first-hand experience with this....but my son, whom was a Aircraft Engineer & worked for Air Canada, was subject to these tests, randomly! He had NO objections to these tests, because of the responsibility of his career! One thing that he did find, was that he had been at a party where M.J. had been smoked, and there were residuals in his tests! Thank you, for information that I had not known, I did not know that there were adulterants that would combat the test! Not that it is any good to me....I have a renter that I won't even let smoke on my property! Cheers!
