Laundry time

Wonderwash - A small washer for people with no laundry room

Now that things are beginning to settle in the new house, it's time to start thinking about other things, like doing some laundry. Since the washer and the clothesline stayed behind at the old house, looks like a trip to the laundromat is in order. There isn't really a place here for a washer and dryer, but I went looking for something small and I found the one in the picture. It's only $43, and it certainly is a small thing, I guess for washing clothes every day (which, with a teenager in the house probably isn't that bad an idea). But, first I thought I'd ask the great group here on mylot. Have you ever had one of these washers or have you ever seen one in action? Let me know what you think. It can be found here...*not a referral link* http://www.laundry-alternative.com/catalog/Washing-5-1.html

That is more than generous of you, my love. How nice of you to volunteer to supervise me doing the laundry by hand

If you start now, you might be done like in a month or so since you are so worried I will help by supervising and encouraging you all the way

All I have ever had was regular size machines until I bought my first house. It was about 850 square feet no basement and only a dirt crawl space. I bought a washer/dryer combination from Sears. The dryer was made on the top of the washer and I had it installed in the kitchen. It didn't take a lot of room and it was the best washer and dryer in the world.

This is a spacesaver combination Works well. - These space savers work as well as the regular size machines.
Sending you a picture of what I meant. I have never seen one like your photo. Looks small. I wondered if it would tangle clothes up ???

All I can tell you is the one I had like in the picture was a Kenmore (Sears) and it was a fabulous team, still working well when I sold the house. When I came to this house I bought the regular size washer and separate dryer. All the hype about Maytag and knowing they used to be good I bought Maytag. I had nothing but grief. After the flood came I lost both washer and dryer so when it came time to replace the machines I bought Kenmore and I'm very pleased.

That is strange. I have never heard anything but good things about Maytag. Bummer that they weren't good for you Kenmore is a good brand as well though, so you should be okay now

For me, this does not look like something I would be interested in, and it looks like it is too small for a lot of the things you might need to wash up as well. This might be perfect for things like your underclothes, and such, but I am not sure it would be worth the $$ for sure. You might want to think twice I would think before investing in this.

It looks more and more like a bad idea to me. Maybe something one could use in an emergency but that's about it.

LOL, it looks like a propane tank! And who's gonna be the one to turn the crank? Hmmmmmmmmmm? I have a better idea. Take the laundry into the shower with you. Apply liquid detergent to the garments and rubadubdub on your oh so hard abs, rinse and voila..........showered and laundered at the same time and no cranks to crank! ROFL

You know, people always have thought I was cranky. It does look like a propane tank. But, it's just a little cranking, and I am sure I can do it

Hi fwidman..am glad that everything is now settling down in your hew home, when it comes to washing clothes personally it wouldn't matter to me that the waser was small as it would be cheaper than going to the laundrymat...so would get the washing machine....littleowl

It is a cute idea for a washer, and it's eco-friendly since it uses no electricity I have to say though that Shelly was not very impressed with it

Hi fwiddy, I never use one like this actually it is the first time I am seeing one so small but it says it is a 5-cycle. If you don't mind to wash everyday to minimized the laundry load then I would encourage you to try it out.

Hi fwidman, That is so small, it won't do for our household and I wouldn't want to be wahing everyday, what my hubbs bike clothes and work clothes including mine there are quite a lot of washing I have to do and that is too small for me, but I do like it as its neat and if you don't have a lot of washing that is perfect. I wouldn't particularly want to be doing laundry every day either. There are better things to do. Like mylotting

Hey fwidman! I have only seen pictures of this tiny washer and have no idea how it works! It probably would take you all day, every day to do laundry though! I have a portable washing machine that costs under $400 that can be hooked up to the kitchen sink. It is portable. It is not heavy to push back and forth. It is for apartments or smaller spaces. I have had one for over 27 years of living in my apartment. No, not the same one. I am on my 4th machine! It gets plenty of use though! It is not as big as a regular washer, but it sure is bigger than that little tiny thing! I do recommend it! I also have an electric dryer which I have had for the 27 years. I don't use that as much because I don't want to run up my electric bill. I hang most of my clothes and dry only once in awhile. The washer can be purchased in Sears or most appliance stores. It hooks up to most kitchen sinks. It is a really good investment. It beats going to the laundromat! If you are interested and have any questions I will be glad to give you more info!
