Does anyone else agree with me that as part of her training she should organize some sort of myLot bookclub? Hmmm??? Hmmm??? Would you participate in a myLot bookclub? Read the same book as other myLotters and then discuss it here? Sounds like great librarian training for me. You?

That's a pretty cool idea, if you can pull it off. I'm already part of several online reading groups, so I'm not new to the concept of reading as a group. The only problem I see is the variety of people you have here, who might not share the same common interest when it comes to books. However, if the book selected is something that I would be interested in reading, I would definitely participate.

I'm a member of goodreads.com which is a free online readers community. It's a place where you can keep an online shelf of books you read, is currently and what you plan to read. It also has an active discussion board, and you can create groups. It's a fun place to hang out if you like to talk about books. Here is my profile if you decide to join, and add me as a friend, so you can check my books. http://www.goodreads.com/user/show/434780

The variety of people and types of books would be the biggest challenge, for sure. I'm curious how your online reading groups are organized. I have not been a part of an online reading group myself.

I myself wouldn't mind participating in a MyLot Book Club; I would feel though that selecting the books would be something but it may work. Why not? perhaps then we can expand our genres a bit more and read something we probably wouldn't even try at first. Nice idea.

Hey your suggestion sounds interestng. It's worth a try and see how much response a mylot bookclub will have . I'll look up and see what sort of book you recommend and it's a great way to share ideas.. and earn money .

I like the idea a lot myself, but can't imagine how to organize such a thing. Was hoping our librarian would be motivated to give it a try.

It really depends on what books would be assigned. I don't read just anything.

never heard of this person, I think it would be nice, but remember if she is an employee of mylot she can only do what they allow her to and if she is not she can't do anything. It is up to mylot administration to decide but there site is very specific it is for discussions and discussions only. Personally I don't understand how so many people join website knowing what the website is all about and then want to change the website into something else.

We have a MyLot librarian? What does this person do? The book club is a great idea, by the way.

probably not unless its a book I already want to read besides, as someone with some library training myself, a book club isn't always part of the job discription.

It would give me more reason to come to myLot for sure. Not that I need more reasons. I really should spend more time reading than myLottting.

Sounds like a good idea but it would also depend on what the book was. I can't stay focused on reading a book if I really have no interest in it.

Hey pots! I think that would be a great idea! Why shouldn't we all get together and have a mylot bookclub? It sure would be a great reason for some of us (like me!) to start reading again! I would like that alot! Since we discuss everything else why not discuss some books that we could all pick and read together! I like that idea! Whose going to pick the books? Where's the librarian?

That is a great idea! What kind of books would you have in the group? I suggest actually having several people start different clubs for different types of books and readers. Not only would this be some great librarian training, but it also would be great for socializing and creating discussions here on MyLot. I say go for it!

I would as long as I could get the book here. Our library leaves much to be desired, and there aren't any real bookstores here.. a used book store and the Wal-Mart. It's times like this I miss the city. :(

hi makingpots! So you are the resident librarian? I know you can organize a mylot bookclub and as much as I love reading and would want to participate, I don't think I will have the means to buy the books. Books here are very expensive and at the moment can't afford them. Maybe, someday I will. I would really love to be a part of your bookclub! Good luck! Take care and have a great day! lovelots..faith210
