I read somewhere that there was talk about how women can get prescribed SSRIs (anti-depressant/anxiety) medication just for having PMS. What do you think of that? I think women should just get extra paid days off just for those days. Don't you agree ladies?

Well, its good if we could have that (wishful thinking). Right now i'm suffering from it (my 1st day), having all sort of cramp, back pain and all but it did not stop me from coming to work (PMS or anything, i threw away from my office window). My will power are much more stronger and i will not let this God given gift (i consider it as one of special gift since men don't have it, anything that men don't have is special to me) rendered me helpless.

well you can't get SSRI's just for PMS, its more for PMDD or PMS/S, which is advanced PMS. I was diagnosed with it and my PMS lasted up to two weeks, then i'd be on it for a week and then only have one week of normalcy! it was ridiculous. i've gotten at managing it, but it can get out of hand. no you shouldn't get paid days off because you are PMS'ing, learn to deal with it and get over it. the world will not stop because you are bleeding.

I know that you can get them yet, but there is talk for it. I'm sorry you had to go through such a struggle. I think my idea is a great idea if women can get a week off just for their periods. We all seem not to function 'idealy' for this male dominated society... during this time with PMS anyway and all of us females get it. Why not?

I wasn't stating at all that we, females are any weaker then males. I just feel that since the majority (females are majority) and like you say, males even get PMS that why not respect this skill we have by giving us all the time and energy we need to embrace it with days off. The men made up this rule of what is weak and what is not, and people are brain washed that it's the amount of pay and physical strength that is to determine how strong and weak we are, when I believe it's totally not.

I agree with you. Sometimes it can be very frustrating when you have to work on those days. Especially when you need to wear a white uniform. I found that so discriminating ! I once had to go home early because of it. When you have to work and get no time to go do what you must. You can get into accidents. Especially with white cloths on. And I sometimes would get so moody, those mood swings are terrible. And being under stress at work does not help at all. Yes it would be better if we had more days off, though I think if the doctor would have gave me medicine, I would have been able to coop better with the situation too.The mood swings were the worst. I still get them , but I am at home now, so no one has much trouble with it anymore.Except my BF, hahaha! take care.
