Hi marketing, I could see people show the "bow" to respect the older people or other people only from the Korean tv soap I’ve watched. I thought this only would happen only in the older days. Oh gosh, it is out of my expectation, after reading your discussion I then come to know that people in your place still prefer to have this way to respect others. It seems that you never follow this eh! whereas giving a kiss is more usual among your parents and siblings
In our place it mostly depends on the relationship of the two persons. We usually would say hello or hi to normal friends most of the time. We like to shake hands when seeing our old friends or the older people to show our respect to them. We would like to hug our intimate parents and siblings and to pat each other’s back at the same time.

Hi marketing, I haven’t been to your country before. I could see from the popular tv series Da Chang Jin to learn that how courtesy the people in your place are to pay respect to others by giving a perfect bowing. Well, a caring mom like you surely would teach your kids to bow to the elders. I could imagine how polite and elegant your lovely kids are
Thanks for the best response

In our culture, to show respect to the elders, we have to kiss their hands. We should also use some special words in addressing them. Respect begets respect I believe. Just show others good gestures and they'll surely do the same as well. If they won't do that, just smile; atleast, you've done something really nice.

In The United States of America we show our respect mostly by being quiet and clipping our tongues when we would normally wish to say something that might offend. We open doors to people of all ages, and if it is a get together we might allow the elders of us to go ahead, or we might get their plates. It also depends between culture and family.

How do we show respect to the elders...that is a good question and I am afraid the answer is that we are not very good at that in my country (Denmark) I have worked in different nursing homes and the truth is that the elderly people aren't always treated that well. Of course there are also good places where the nurses are nice and respectful, but I think that the situation for the elderly people in my country need some improvement and that everyone deserves to get to respected and treated well.
