The First Dog...

I'm wondering what type of dog will be our next resident pooch of the White House. I understand that the breed will be very limited due to the daughter's allergy. I hope they DO decide to go for a shelter dog!!! Just taking a wild stab, I'm thinking it might be a Poodle of one size or another. Poodles are classy , elegant dogs. Prissy yet energetic. I seem to remember that their hair is unlike most other dogs. Kinda semi hypoallergenic not prone to shed. I just can't decide if it will be a Standard Poodle or the smaller Toy. Barack & Michelle are so tall, I see them with a Standard. However, the girls are so young, I see them with a Toy. Since Barack & Michelle appear to put family first, I'm thinking they might choose a Toy Poodle from the Humane Society. Anybody else have any thoughts on our next First Dog??? How did you make your determination??? I just hope it's more personable than Barney!!! I also hope they don't follow the Biden's lead & get a breeder pup first followed by a shelter pup.

I believe Michelle overrode Barack & said they had to wait until they were settled into the White House before they could get the dog. Biden adopted a breeder dog & said he was getting a shelter dog also. I never heard that he actually adopted the shelter dog. I'm just trying to determine what kind of dog that might be going into the White House. I really hope they hold to his word & get a shelter dog. That would kick off a trend to adopt shelter pets!!!

They already said in their interview with Baba Wawa (lol) that it will be a shelter dog. I am thinking a poodle, since they do not shed.

I'm allergic to dogs, too, but I have two of them. I have a Boston Terrier and a Rat Terrier, neither of them bother me. The Obama family should get a Boston Terrier!

Cute Boston Terrier - This is Ollie. She's a cutie!!!
Oh YESSSS, a Boston Terrier would be a GREAT dog!!! I used to have one of those. She was a sweetheart!!! Very playful, moderate temperament, all round good dog!!! Not having allergies to dogs, I didn't think about a Boston Terrier being hypoallergenic.

I've heard the same thing about poodles and allergies. Also Yorkies are supposed to have as near human hair as one can get in an animal so I'm thinking this may be an option. I too hope they opt for a shelter dog. That's going to be on lucky dog! No pun intended.
